I loved the movie ''Save the Last Dance'' but I had one major problem with it, as a dancer myself. Styles could not dance!! I read in a magazine that Julia Styles only had 2 months dance experience before making this movie. That is crazy! You can't possibly learn how to be a dancer in 2 months, and that was clearly shown in this film.
Whenever Styles was dancing, especially her ballet, it was awkward and unnatural. Her ballet technique was appaling! Also, when she was really doing ballet, you could tell that it was someone else, because they show Styles' head and arms, then they would show her feet, then they would do a shot from behind as she was doing an arabesque. It was so blooming obvious to me, I don't know why they just didn't get a person who could dance to play the part!
Other than these gripes, I really enjoyed the movie and would recommend it to everyone. The story was excellent and really moving. and Styles and that hunky guy did a really good job at acting.......... but she couldn't dance!!
