Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones the two Australians who founded the group Savage Garden have churned out one of the best numbers in the history of love songs. There all time greatest hits include:

Even today the memories of me going to their concert in the year 1998 if I’ve not mistaken the year are still fresh I can still feel the song I want you performed live in front of me whenever I hear it in my deck. What is surprising is that they have also marked their place in the Guinness Book of World records and even they are entitled as the only Australian band to top the US charts. Obviously with numbers like ‘truly madly deeply’ and ‘I knew I loved you’ and other lovely chart topping songs they are the best, even they had topped the UK charts. It is so sad when I heard that they had split and now one can see Darren Hayes again hitting the charts

Savage Garden was formed in the year 1993 and from the radio shows I heard that they used to compose their own songs, but what went wrong and why did they spilt still wonders me a lot. After their debut responses from record companies like Sony and others came fast and soon they were recording their own numbers and churning out hit one after the other, well for me each song of theirs is a hit. Their music had a lot of passion; it was very lively at time pulsating and also had a soft corner. What I like about them is that all the songs had a lot of meaning in them, songs like Animal song, and to the moon and back had so much depth in it which is truly amazing. A thousand words, break me shake me, were then recorded and all were proven very sensible not like other bands that just played and recorded what they felt was good.

There songs had a lot of diversity and as I said earlier immense depth and feeling which makes them so divine to hear. Albums like Savage Garden and Affirmation sold more than 20 million copies and people like me who lost the old one went ahead and bought a new one just to update my collection, in the end they are the Savage garden. So much written and said about them but still I have not seen so much universal appeal towards an international band. I wanted to write this review about Savage Garden and their songs. An insight about some of their songs:

Truly Madly Deeply:

This song is just the best; I must have heard it at least a zillion times, if you guys want to woo your girl then I must say that this is the song to sing. I will not write the lyrics as one can easily find them on the internet, but more about this song. The video of this song was also amazing a guy who is lonely ends up meeting his girl in then end. When you listen to this song its feels as if your dreams and wishes have come true and life becomes more relaxed and easy. It’s magic, seriously and I also love to sing this song. The guitar sounds and the keyboard is amazing to hear in this song. Please listen to this song once, and you will go Fida over it.

I knew I loved you:

Now this one is too delicate and mesmerizing, the tune is fresh and every time you listen to it makes you want more, increases your greed towards love and leaves you breathless. Whenever I listen to this song I feel as if I am doing a waltz with a girl in a romantic evening. This song is crazy and has a lot of feelings in it. Truly great.

I want you:

As I said that they have a lot of variety in their songs this one proves it, it is fast, peppy and heart breaking. Bet you to sing it the way they do, it’s fast like a speeding bullet. Lot of drums and guitars love this song for its uniqueness.

Animal song:

When I first time saw the video of this song just after that fell in love with this song, this one has a lot of energy in it and is again has a fresh feeling and leaves you thinking and wanting for more. Drums again with a blend of festive season and which also has a lot of color in it, hence it is not at all dry but filled with joy and emotions, wonderful song.

Break me shake me:

‘You abused me in a way that I’ve never known.’ Nah don’t worry I am not saying it to you but it’s the lyrics of the song, to all those people with broken hearts listen to it, will make you feel good. Seriously, I am not joking, just made for such kind of people. Has lots of beats and hardcore rock feeling.

Affirmation:

Again a fast and peppy number, this one is different from the others, one lines which is truly amazing is ‘I believe in karma what you give is what you get return’ which is so true. Lovely song, good lyrics, and nice to hear on a long drive.

To the moon and back:

This is one is my favorite, starts with a long electric guitar tune and is just makes you feel like you are on cloud no. 9. It takes you on a different world. Actually this song speaks about the insecurities of a girl and how she handles it. Lovely lyrics again. It’s so hard to find such songs this time.

Also there are others to choose from like, ‘2 beds and a coffee machine’ is so sweet, ‘tears of pearls’, ‘crash and burn’, ‘the best thing’ are all good songs. Be prepared to listen to their songs. Even today they remain close to my heart and still listen to their songs again and again. Today Darren has come out with his own albums and has given us hits like insatiable, so beautiful, which brings back the memories of Savage Garden the band. It’s so hard to find a band like Savage Garden in today’s times, I have also heard some rumors of them joining together, and if this is a fact then other bands will certainly have a tough competition.

My college years would have been totally incomplete without them, yes I have even sung their songs during the college fests, though not won a prize, but their songs are real masterpieces, I know I am praising a lot but it’s a fact that Savage Garden was truly no.1 and will always remain no.1 in my heart.
