I have been to Sathyam theatre so many times over the last couple of years....I thought why not write about the theatre on this wonderful site.....and so here goes....
Sathyam theatres was one of the first theatres to be made into a multiplex....later many theatres followed suit....some to compete with Sathyam and some others just to survive :) but the fact remains that atleast in Chennai it is a theatre which is a cut above the rest in terms of ....well.....almost everything.....
For starters, the fact that the theatre is located theatre in one of the busiest and easily accesible locations is a major plus.The draw back here is that as it is a busy place, the entrance to the theatre gets to be choc-a-bloc just before the start of a show....especially on saturday nights.If you reach the theatre just minutes before the show is going to start, then u are in for a rough 10 minute period....likewise the parking inside also gets congested during those periods.....but its not anything unmanageable.....
Coming to the theatre,the complex boasts of 5 theatres - Sathyam,Santham,Subham,Sree and Studio-5. Each theatre is in a class of its own.The first three were the original 3 theatres and the latter 2 added recently....The theatres boast of impeccable surround sound systems,wonderful acoustics,and good screens......and it was(and still is) one of the first theatres where the AC is permanently kept on :).Studio-5 is a smaller theatre when compared to the other screens.
Now coming on to one of the best features of the complex.....there is absolutely Zilch or very low chance of seeing people selling Black tickets in this theatre....So if u go in reasonably early, u are in with a good chance to get a ticket for current booking also.....unlike most other theatres in Chennai...also there is a nice concept of advance booking from 10 in the morning till 10 in the night...which is very convenient.Also, the security present there are not just for name sake but actually help in maintaining an orderliness inside the theatre.Also, Smoking is banned inside the complex which contributes a lot towards keeping it clean.
The rates for all the theatres are priced between 50-70 which though not cheap is a price myself,and I guess many people are perfectly willing to pay for the experience they get.... All the theatres are very comfortable for watching the movies....seats are comfortable......there are enough snack outlets so as to prevent congestion during the interval(though this is still difficult due to the perenially existant heavy crowd!!).Also, the ambience inside the theatre is pleasing...and....I dont know why...maybe am a film freak,but entering this theatre does give me a lot of joy.....
In fact now Sathyam has become such a popular place that Airtel has named it as a hot spot and calls made,if any when u are inside the theatre, are charged less!! Way to go SATHYAM and keep up the good work
