Before I pen this review, I would like to point a few notes which made me write this review.
My love for cinema
My anger towards theaters where quality is a compromise and ethics is extinct
My passion for reading and writing reviews(It gives me the feel of voicing our views or may be freedom of words to change the perception of what a customer can do)
Satyam Cinemas is the word any movie buff in chennai knows. This is a place where movie watching is not just an event but an experience by itself. A multiplex with six screens(Satyam, Santham, Sree, Seasons, Six Degrees and Studio 5), it doesnt look very attractive from outside for outer appearances are meant to be deceptive. Let me try igniting my imagination engine hereon.
When a group of young minds exhausted with a week of coding, testing and deliverables. there comes the thought of enjoying the weekend(obviously it has to come for humans and we beleive we are) and one plan for the weekend is movies. You can count the number of good theaters in Chennai and to be apt its just two(Satyam & INOX). Gone are the days when u need to stand in queue for booking tickets and watching a movie. With a user friendly internet booking through which tickets and snacks orders can be placed(which will be delivered in your seat) are customer centric approach exemplified. Above all, you can select the seats you want which is a real good choice which comes at INR 10 for a booking.
On the day to watch the movie, driving down chennai's very own mount road and taking a right at Thousand lights. All you can see is a small road cramped with traffic leading to Satyam cinemas. The parking at satyam is comparitively small but very vell organized by their support staff. Once the hue and cry of parking is over, we just walk down towards the theater entrance which has the Air conditioned Ticket Counter which caters to not so internet savvy population followed by a pastry and juice corner and The Window(Online ticket collection center).
Once you enter into the theater, we just start to appreciate the humbleness of the team. Interiors, neatness, courteous support staff, amazing fragrance all around and above all a very decent crowd.
Every hall has plush seats, amazing interiors, calculated elevation, screens are way ahead of its time and excellent air conditioning all through the three odd hours of the movie(some theaters are theives earning by organized black tickets, saving by switching off AC and all other crap).
Satyam cinemas are very transparent and organized in their approach and they were the pioneers of customizing their business to the need of the customer.
Not to mention the rest rooms(not the usual stinking stuff as in other places). its as good as one in a star hotel. Hats off to the advertising innovation of satyam placing a LCD screen in each urinal. theres no other go for you to watch that advertisement in that span of time.
I have seen the transformation of this theater in the past 15 years and have even heard of critics saying this sort of investment in a theater is absolutely unwarranted for this was a dying business five years ago due to video piracy.
But days have changed, their risk has paid off and the customer has got an experience he just cant resist ever.
Way to go. Satyam Cinemas. I'm sure the patronage of people loving cinema lining up in theaters will always love to be at Satyam.
The customer centric business model approach and a corporate approach can change any business and Satyam is no way an exception.
