I guess if anybody wants to know more about Indira Gandhi, one must watch this. Of course, the serial is not a true depiction of her life. However, the way Divya Seth portrayed the character was reminiscient of Indira style. Both her sons played by Rohit and Ronit resemble Sanjay and Rajiv respectively. Tiscali as Sonia and Shweta Salve as Menaka suited very well.
Her character called Priyamvada was keeping me tight to sofa to watch the serial. Her fiery eyes, her walking style, her dialogue delivery and the background music just kept reminding me of how Indira Gandhi must have ruled.
I used to come back from work early so that I could watch this serial. Just 30 minutes and the whole evening of mine was done. I had in the meantime read about Indira Gandhi's biography by Katherine Frank and the serial was like a visualization of the character.
Undoubtedly Zee did a good job by bringing real political drama amidst saas bahu serials which had lost their charm.
