When you are taking up a job for your country or for a cause you have to pay a price.   ‘Power will not be given, but it has to be taken’.  When it is taken by force there are others who get affected and paying the price will be inevitable.  However, if we know the price we had to pay earlier, whether we will engage into it in the first place?  The answer most of the time will be No.

Sarkar Raj is the story of a father who would have said No and a Son who would have said Yes!

Subhash Sarkar (Amitab Bachchan) is a proud father (king maker in politics) where his son has outperform his achievements within a short span.   Anita (Aishwarya Rai), CEO of Sheppard Power Plant Intl. arrived with a mission to establish a multi- billion dollars power plant in Maharashtra and seek the help of Sarkar.   Sarkar however refuses the proposal where 40000 people get affected with it where the project covers 5 villages.   However, Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan) has a long vision and thinks that it is a must for the development of Maharashtra.   He made his father agree on the proposal.     They had to first take the permission of Rao Saab who was the Guru of Sarkar and who is the major influence in the village.    Anita and Shankar take up the challenge to convince the villages.  Like in any political decision including people, obstacles came from different quarters.     They attack the people…to attack on the ideology…what is the price they had to pay?   Watch the movie!  It is a must watch!!

After Chak De India, I think this is the next good script came in mainstream bollywood cinema.  Neat and crisp!   The beginning was calm; slowly they introduced the characters, few philosophies and thoughts are exchanged to get the audience to bring to the screen fully and unleash the power of story-telling.   I believe for any story to become a hit it should have a powerful villain.    The best plus for Sarkar Raj is that the Villains got their say and they said it in a powerful way - I will say even in a shocking way.  The first shock came just before the interval and then the series continued till the end.   Great work by Prashant Pandey!!

After Aag, the audience and media poured some water on RGV to wake up to his senses and straighten the act and here is the answer by Ram Gopal Varma.  He is right back with a bang!   Brilliant execution in all department of film making is one word.   Story selected are great, dialogues are superb, he extracted the best out of actors and used the technicians for the best.   As a finished product Sarkar Raj shines.  The credit goes to RGV!   Great work!!

Amitab Bachchanis brilliant in this film with full of energy, compassion, display of acting skills, charisma and screen presence.  Another fine feather in his cap!!   Abhishek is very good most of the time…where rest of the time he was Brilliant with his performance.  Matured and controlled acting for a youngster.      Aishwaryatoo take out best performance.    In some scenes she performs never seen before basis.   Very good show by Aishwarya!!  For that matter RGV when concentrating on his work know how to hide the drawbacks of his cast and project their talents.   Each supporting actor(from the word go) make their mark. They live their characters and leave the space with a great impact.

Music is the only one department where the film is not that out performing but it was a serious cinema the director I believe didn’t permitted his plot to dilute with inclusion of songs for the sake of it.   The songs in it, especially the first one was brilliant.   But wait, the film’s back ground music is excellent from the word go.  From the beginning to the end…it rocks…BGM compensate for less number of tracks in the film.

Cinematographyof RGV films is quite qualitative.   In Sarkar Raj it is reaching a step higher.  Top class job there by Amit Roy.  Editing is perfect.  The film is only 3,445 Meters or so in length i.e. less than 2 hr10 minutes.    There is nothing much to add for choreography, all have some connection to the sequences of the film.

There are good numbers of outstanding sequences.

Abhishek trying to touch the feet of Dilip Prabhawalkar.

Aishwarya asking Abhishekh what is the most painful decision he has to take in his life.

Aishwarya Rai’s scene in hospital.

The scenes before the interval.

Scenes soon after Abhishek places his hand on Aishwarya’s hand.

(I cannot say them all as it will give away some suspense of the movie)

There is a good amount of philosophical and psychological thoughts woven in the script which make one think.   For a change, this is a film you can watch with your brain as well as with heart.

The movie is getting a good feedback as well.     In the midst of flops after flop, it is a good change and the film is getting an opinion that it is equal to Sarkar.  For a sequel if audience say it is equal, I will say it is better where we audience always expect better from the sequel.

The movie is not a light entertainer, nor recommended for children but it is a good serious cinema.   A must watch.  Go for it!!!

My rating : 4.5 Stars.
