Want good taste and hygiene? Go look somewhere else.

I used to like this beer a lot because of the flavor, till I had the recent incidents.

The beer tastes a bitter, no beer is supposed to be sweet, but this one is not pleasant on the tongue. And the quality has gone down

You know what, we all notice that wonderful statutory message on the label: ''Alcohol consumption is injurious to health''.

We all know the ill affects. I am sure you'd agree if I say slow reflexes, alcoholism?

But would you agree if I say something like ''food poisoning'', ''gastro intestinal infections'', or vomiting? Believe me, it is true.

I bought a bottle, which had patches of algae floating inside, which were larger than one cm in diameter. It was a 100% transparent bottle, and if they would have some slightest quality check in place, they would have caught it. But I feel they have absolutely zero quality control.

QUALITY OUT OF CONTROL?

I bought some bottles from a govt. shop in Delhi on May 2004. I opened up a bottle, poured it into my crystal mug, and whoa? what's that black speck doing there? Oh? another one?

Not fit for drinking baby. Goes down the drain. Other bottles were fine. That day I lost my appetite for beer.

Then in June I again made the mistake. Bought a dozen of them. This time, when I reached home, checked all bottles. One was real real bad. I am unable to upload the pictures on MouthShut. If you want to see the pic write to me with your email ID.

Here's what I did this time:

I took photos of the bottle.

Sent it to Inertia Industries Ltd (Sand Piper) corporate office (Delhi, Lajpat n), with a letter saying that this is what I have found twice with their product, and told them clearly, that my intent is not to harass, that's why I am not going to beverage quality authorities or consumer court. But I definitely want an explanation from their quality control people.

Here's what they do:

  • A person from the sales team calls me up.

  • Says they are sorry, and a senior person will come over to my place to discuss with me

  • the bad bottle is because we use ''second hand bottles'' and due to peak season, there is workload, and cleaning is not proper some times.

  • after 2 days, a ''delivery'' person arrives.

  • I ask him where's the representative from your company?

  • He says he is the rep. So I ask him why he is here.

  • He tells me he is there to ''deliver'' six bottles of beer and nothing else. And would not leave unless I give him the bad bottle pictures of which were sent to the company

  • I still was not in a mood to hassle them, so I gave them back the bottle. Not to mention, the bottles that he delivered, were pretty bad to look at. I drained them into the washbasin after he left.

Overall, all they wanted was to cover their own sweet safety. Wanted to escape legal issues. And I am absolutely sure, no change will happen to the quality. Now I feel I should have sued them.

I am not drinking any more SandPiper.

Why I am writing this review: MouthShut is a really neat forum to discuss products and services and a lot many more things. One good service to society that MouthShut does, is that it allows a healthy environment for people to share their experience. This review is primarily to make all of you aware of what's going on inside the lid here. For me, I got saved because I noticed this in the first bottle, which means I was sober enough to notice this. Just imagine if someone were not sober?

They are not ready to fix their quality. If I find another bad bottle, this time I do not plan to inform them directly. Plan to notify them through court. They deserve this.
