. . Nine songs in an album is a rare feat
these days. But with Himesh
Reshammiya's sharp sense of melody
at the helm of things, this is an album
that shows promise. The title track is a
soothing number and its twin versions
are equally appealing. While Ankit
Tiwari's version sets the melancholic
mood right, Mohammad Irfan's heartfelt
singing is top-notch. Unfortunately,
Palak Muchhal has limited scope in the
song, but she manages to leave a
haunting impact with her wonderful
voice. More than the vocals, the song
works because of its strong musical
arrangement. Kheech Meri Photo, sung
by Darshan Raval and Neeti Mohan, is
a fun and peppy number. This song is
right out of Neeti's comfort space and
Akasa Singh, along with Darshan,
support her ably. This song definitely
has repeat value. The next track on the
album, Ek Number, is a decent attempt
at fusion. The catchy beats and Neeti's
voice complements the vibe of the
song. It's not exactly hip-hop but a
desi adaptation of the genre. Arijit
Singh gets behind the mic for Tera
Chehra and the song is right up his
alley. This soft number benefits Arijit's
nuanced singing; he lends it a certain
subtlety and ups the melody quotient
manifolds. Bewajah, that is both sung
and composed by Himesh himself, is a
fabulous love ballad. The potential of
this track cannot be undermined and
probably a more powerful singer
could've enhanced it. But Himesh's raw
voice adds a rustic texture to it. The
smooth blend of piano and guitar gives
this song an edge. It is novel thinking
when any composer uses Arijit for
something more than romantic songs.
Himesh dares him with the energetic
Main Teri Yadoon Mein. Subrat Sinha's
lyrics give the song a nice touch and
Arijit's soulful voice helps elevate this
spirited number. Haal-E-Dil by Neeti
and Sreeram Chandra evokes mixed
reactions. While you can't help but
praise the way Neeti tackles the
complexities of the track, Sreeram's
part is half-baked. It won't be incorrect
to point out that Neeti's effervescence
overshadows Sreeram. After Prem
Ratan Dhan Payo's chartbusters,
Himesh pleasantly surprises with this
album.
