I bought a Samsung high end 8 series TV of samsung UA46ES8000 from Europe one and half year back. Since I was working there. Then I moved to India and now I got a problem with the Wifi module of the TV because of which the TV restarts quiet often. I went through the web and found that this is a common problem. When I asked the Samsung India customer care for a service they gave a shocker that they will charge Rs 5000/- just for a diagnostic visit since I bought the TV abroad and the spare part charge will be additional.
I asked them if they would send a service engineer from abroad to resolve it, but the customer care person told it is Samsung's service policy. The exact TV model is available in India and I do not understand why they have such ridiculous policy. I have decided not to have the TV serviced and live with the restart problem. Do not buy Samsung products from abroad. Wen you buy a top end TV its expected to run without any issues for few years. Even if it has some issue, we expect it to be resolved in a reasonable cost.
PS: I had a minor issue with my LG bluray player two months back. The service engineer came to my house and had it serviced for 225 Rs. He did not take any extra money even as a tip. If you are looking for a reasonably good after sale service go for LG.
