We bought this Samsung 6800 Smart LED TV in Dec 2012. It was installed a week later by Samsung guys. These are installation people and do not know anything about the TV really. So, calling them Samsung 'engineers' is a stretch. The wall mounting went fine, no issues yet.
The TV provides a good viewing experience with generally sharp pictures and good colours. There are options to tweak picture and sound in a variety of ways. We have tried these but haven't really noticed any significant difference. The TV looks very good and is pretty thin. One concern we had prior to buying the TV was around sound quality. We were thinking of buying a home theater system to accompany the TV as sound quality from our other LED TV is poor, with dialogues very difficult to understand at times.
However, once we experienced the TV at home, the HT idea was immediately shelved. The sound quality is very good and there are no concerns on understanding, volume, clarity etc. Obviously, this is from a typical user angle and not from an audiophile perspective.
This is a 3D TV. Switching to 3D is very easy and 3 glasses are included with the TV. The glasses are not very sturdy and are already showing signs of breaking down. 3D is more of a gimmick if you plan to watch regular programming in 3D mode. However, if you go for 3D content, then it is a very good experience. In fact, I have watched 3D movies which were a far better experience on this than in cinema hall.
You can also watch movies on USB drive and almost every format is supported. So far, I have had problem with just one movie, everything else has played without any problems.
Issues/Problems:
Remote is very problematic. It started to give problems within 2-3 months. You have to rotate the batteries continuously or tap remote for it to work. Planning to complain to Samsung about this.
The TV produces cracking sounds at random. These are very loud and startling (sometimes we woke up at night wondering if there was somebody else in the house). I searched on the net and found that this is widespread. Seems like nothing can be done. However, please avoid this TV or at least do not put it in your bedroom if you have a weak heart!
HD channels are not crystal clear. As I mentioned, we have another LED TV which we brought from US. It is a cheap, local US brand. The HD pictures on that TV beat the ones on Samsung hands down. There is simply no comparison. Initially we suspected that something was wrong in the settings. However, even after tweaking the settings a lot, the gap cannot be narrowed. The pictures are OK really, but having seen what can be, these are a disappointment.
Not very smart. We went for a smart TV as we thought kids would like the games, content, apps etc. Well, whatever is there is very, very slow. Using the remote to type things is a smart TV killer. Games suck - from a content as well as playability perspective. Almost none of the content is free. Net access crawls. The TV will frequently take hours to update itself with no improvement to show for it. We stopped looking at the smart things after a couple of months. It is just crap.
So, overall, there are some issues but this is a good TV. Avoid the smnart TV features and buy it for looks, size, sound, picture quality (general), 3D experience etc.
