I am using this phone from past 2 weeks and the review I have written is something from the bad experience I had with the SAMSUNG STAR.
Bad things first
Sound :
Sound from ear-piece is very low and so is the ringing volume. Switching to speaker phone while talking is a pain especially when you are used to Nokia or Motorola. U can’t turn off the ringer with a single stroke you have to keep holding the volume key in order to turn off the ringer. Switching to Bluetooth while talking is again a pain. You cannot record voice while you are on the phone.
Ease if scrolling :
Scrolling to find a number in address book is a pain for your fingers.
Scrolling photo contacts is not as smooth as it is shown in the advertisement.
Stylus:
No inbuilt stylus in the phone you always have to carry a silly thing in your pocket or tie it to the phone and it will keep hanging and keeps on irritating you every now and then.
Java :
No support for java applications phone is not meant for just playing games and listening to songs there is a lot more to it when you are paying for something you deserve better things out of it. Java is supported in the phone but Samsung never mentioned whether you can install apps or not .
Battery :
it takes almost 3-4hrs for battery to get fully charged.
Miscellaneous:
Worthless, useless, manual.
If samsung research team thinks they have improved the interface I wonder how thorny it would have been working with the old Touchwiz Interface. Touch and good looks are not going to sell for long. I don't find the phone very durable. Carry case supplied with the phone is of very low quality. I know this peculiar thing but whenever there is an unread message in my inbox and I am talking over the phone whenever it beeps the phone goes on MUTE automatically and the person on the other side is unable to hear and keeps saying hello hello just like the tata indicom Advertisement :-D. Since I work a lot on computers so another thing I feel is a little clumsy is while you are working on the phone to go back to the previous step you have to use the buttons at the bottom which sometimes is a bit uncomfortable.
Last but not the least the three buttons on the bottom are not illuminated, which is funny.... and I don't know why Samsung chooses to do so.
Good things: Working with Widgets is a good experience.Camera is capable of clicking good pics. Typing using the keypad is quite comfortable. Screen is quite big and it is very bright. Battery backup ispretty good considering the resolution and size of screen.Light weight and easy to carry.
In a nut shell samsung has tried to WOO the customers with the good looks of the phone and the advertisement and the image gets broken when you actually use the phone. I hope the review helps. My personal advice would be to stay away from this phone. Mouthshut team please change the picture of the phone as its not the samsung star instead it is SAMSUNG STAR 3G.
