When upgrading from our Kelvinator single door, we decided on the SR34.Okay, all people who buy any Samsung product need to know one thing.From my experience with various Samsung products, there is always a chance of initial de-bugging.In the case of the SR34 this was the same.After about a month of use the fans in the freezer and refridgerator compartment packed up.
On calling up the service centre the service engineer came home the same day itself.Since he did not expect the fans had failed, he did not carry replacements.But the next day itself he returned and replaced the fans in no time and the fridge has been working perfectly ever since for the past 6 years.The storage area is well designed and the capacity can be utilised to the maximum.
The shelves on the door too are spacious and can take plenty of weight.(We use glass bottles for water instead of old PET bottles)Since the racks can be moved around it is possible to meet any storage requirement.As long as one takes the effort to clean the deodoriser element as instructed, the interior remains odorless.
The freezer compartment also is well designed and can accomadate quite a lot.Speaking of accomadation, my mother had opted for a larger capacity LG so its easy to make a fair comparison.Where the LG was broad the SR34 has greater depth thus giving more usable capacity.I have believed the after market voltage stabilisers do more damage than good to any appliance and so we don't have one.
The night voltage in our area is between 200 and 215.My computer UPS calls it a day by 11pm and shuts down due to this. But the Samsung SR34 works on merrily.Kerala has plenty of rains and the humidity levels are high, but the SR34 is yet to show its first spot of rust..
The exterior can easily be cleaned with a mild soap solution.The exterior of the door is one area on any fridge that picks up a lot of stains, especially around the handle.The SR34 has been thoughtfully been designed with a non-metallic exterior for the door which can withstand the use of harsher cleaning agents.
At times I had even resorted to the use of Brasso to get it clean. And it has survived without a scratch and is still looking like new.We in India only upgrade our fridges when we have a valid excuse for doing it. Such as a rusted body or a burnt out compressor.My wife and I are waiting for an excuse so that we can buy a bigger fridge.But the SR34 refuses to oblige and stubbornly keeps going strongly and efficiently.
So we will just have to wait and be patient.And wen we do buy a new fridge what will it be? Another Samsung without a doubt!!
