I bought the samsung SGH -x620 model about seven months ago.My main criteria were a camera and FM.After looking at several other brands , I finally decided to buy this model as it not only had the required features I wanted but also looked stylish.The earphones came with the phone and so I neednot run around to get one so that I could play FM.
The first things I liked about this phone are the voice clarity, picture clarity and the easy buttons for camera and increase and decrease of volume.The camera can be accessed directly using the up arrow key just below the screen.To take a picture there are two options: one is the button provided on the left side of the phone.When one holds the phone facing the screen, this button will towards the right side just below the earphone plug in port.Another option comes on the screen towards the left showing a camera symbol.
On the right side of the screen, a folder symbol comes which takes to the options menu where we can change the settings for the picture mode, effects, timer, rotation, settings and the help options.Once clicked the picture is saved automatically.The name of the files can be changed later and usually pictures are named serially with changable starting names.The shutter sound can be choosen as one of the three sounds provided or None.This is a very good feature I found in this mobile.I have seen other brands which do not provide the option of making no sound for shutter.
The only drawback in the camera is that it takes some time for the camera to initialize.Also one option of the photo size is mobile mode which is solely for the mobile.Do not opt for this size if you want to click some memorable pictures.Otherwise, pictures size will be that of the screen of your mobile The phonebook is always handly from the screen with the button towards the right of the phone near the right arrow button.There is a cancel button named "C" below the down arrow which can cancel any action you are doing.But if you press it accidentally when you get a call, it may cut the call from your side.
Call receiving and disconnecting can be done with the two button with the phone receiver symbols towards the right and left of the C button.Call history including received, dialled and missed can be seen with the call receive button.The menu can be reached with the Menu option on the left of the screen.There are nine options in the menu - carrier services which differs with different carriers, call records, network, sound settings, messages, fun box, organizer, camera and phone settings.
Call record option shows the history of calls including received calls, dialled calls and missed calls.The user can see the cost and duration of the latest call.There are options to reset the timer for calls.
Network option gives option for call diverting, call call barring and call waiting options.Band selection and caller ID options can be changed here. Sound settings provide options to set ringtones for general calls, or for groups and individuals.
One can message either an SMS or an MMS.Settings can be changed with the messaging option.The fun box provides three games which are not so impressive.I didnt like the games at all. The organizer gives options to keep track of events, and birthdays.Also the alarm can be set here.There is a voice recorder provided.Also usual applications like the calculator, timer and the stop watch are provided in this option.The camera option is already said about.Phone Settings gives you the option of displaying any text or greeting message on the screen, display of wallpaper and security options. Data can be transferred from the phone to PC via a data cable which you need to buy from any samsung authorised service centre.It will cost you around 500 to 700 bucks.In addition to that you need a File Manager application downloadable from the samsung website.The Infra red port is helpful only to transfer phone book entries from one mobile to another.But I am yet to test it with a IR device with the PC.
Overall, it is a good buy with some flaws which I think can be rectified. One last thing I would like to say is that the phone got hanged once when I had kept the phone book open for a long time.I had to switch it off and then switch on again to make it normal.
