The black Pearl with communication skills. Review on Samsung SGH-X620

Engrossed with excitement I entered the samsung mobile showroom newly opened at Trichy, cantonment , TN - I looked at the various models of cool sexy phones. FOr my budget was around 7000, I looked at this phone - SGH-X620.

After running through several online reviews which definitely say some pros and cons, I went ahead and proceeded to buying this marvel. I was stunned to know that the cable for data transfer wont be available any time soon. this seems insane with samsung. while there are data cables for every piece of nokia, samsung is poor. With a 128x160 pixels, 65 k color TFT screen the display is quite usable in bright sunlight too. Samsung is known for its extremely bright displays. The keypads are white backlit, which is very attractive in nature. the positioning of the CANCEL key is insane at the max.

There is a four way navi key. OK key is used as a shortcut for GPRS wap browser. It has a VGA res. camera, voice recorder, 3 MB of internal space, stereo FM radio, loudspeaker, crystal clear poly tones, java games, and everything which a normal user would expect. There is a IR port for connecting with laptops or PC via IRDA. The camera is pretty is good for the price the phone sells for. Though its 640 x 480 the camera offers multiple special effects such as sepia effect, emboss, grayscale and night mode.Powered by Standard battery, Li-Ion 800 mAh. The phone has a good standby time of 4 days with no usage. On average the battery lasts for 2.5 days max.the voice clarity is good. signal reception is good but not like nokia phones. Its has GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots), 32 - 48 kbps, and its a TRIBAND phone too. Physical dimensions are 106 x 45.5 x 20 mm,weighing 71 g.

The most irritating part of the phone is the inability to connect the phone with other IR phones such as nokia 3230. THough it can connect, only business cards can be transfered among the phones, and nothing more. It has no bluetooth, yet another disadvantage. The accessories are a portable charger, stereo earphones,and user manual. I recommend this phone for users who dont bother about the missing bluetooth, or wont bother connecting the pc regularly for backup and. WAP browsing is not a breeze like in the nokia sets. But its manageable
