The Samsung X100 defeats all competitors for the price and it's unmatched features.I never looked at Samsung as a good

Cellular phone company,as I found their handsets too toyish and childish. But,the X100 changes that. It's very close to

Perfection, and will stay with any user with moderate needs for a long time.

Major Features:

Ultra Fine and Bright 65,536 colour screen with 128X128 screen resolution

40 tone polyphonic ringtones

Huge 9MB memory for images, sounds, voice recordings(through MMS editor)

1.5 MB dedicated memory for Java applications and games

1000X5 Name phonebook capacity on phone

200 SMS Storage capacity

T9 Predictive Text Input

MMS Editor can add voice, text, image or animation

GPRS Class 10 with Wap 2.0 Support over OpenWave Browser

Flaws:

Voice Recordings(AMR Files) can only be recorded via the MMS Editor and cannot be set as ringtones.

RingTone sound too low.

Lack of Profile system found on Nokia phones.

No Vibrate&Ring at the same time which increases chances of missing a call.

Despite being a 65K colour screen, the actual free space resolution for wallpapers or images is only a paltry 120X80,which greatly reduces image quality.

The Samsung X100 is undoubtedly the best phone in the budget segment. For 6.2K INR(with Bill&Warranty) you get a phone

with a huge memory for it's price,a 65000 colour screen, good ringtone playback capablity,a solid build and a tuff phone. When I go out to buy a new cellphone,I never even consider looking at any Samsung model,as I always considered their phones are not worth it.Because of this,I had given a first preference to the obvious Nokia, then to Sony Ericsson and Siemens.

But,for my budget,Nokia was offering me a virtually dud phone(3100).A paltry 4K screen,700Kb of memory and 4-tone polytones. Its like buying a 3310 in today's time. The phone vendor showed me the Samsung X100,and I was quite impressed by it's looks. It has a smooth blue finish on the front side, and silver on the sides and the back, which goes really well. The display was large, had better colour capablities. After hearing what all features it had,I blindly went for it,despite being a Samsung.

Menu:

The Menu is very similar to Nokia. It has what one would see on a Nokia phone,Messages,Call Register and so on.It is pretty easy to use and handle, and the 65K screen makes Menu surfing exciting and fun.The Menu animations are also fun to watch.Samsung has really worked on their Menu system, and have greatly reduced the Sub-Menus which can be confusing at times.Reaching to a certain function is very easy even for a beginner, and a breeze after a day with the phone.

Features:

9MB dedicated memory for Images,Sounds and what not.Thats a really big one.All those people downloading stuff from GPRS can be assured that they dont have to look at the Memory meter for a long time.At the moment,I have 96 images and animations in the phone,3 voice recordings(45Kb each),and two downloaded polytones(5Kb each) and still I have 7.1MB of free space. No more memory woes. The messaging system of a phone decides wether a person will like a phone or not.The T9 system is excellent, but can get sluggish with fast typing, but the lag is not much. The Phonebook is another delight, you can store 1000 entries in the phone itself with 5 numbers and an email address under one entry.

Unfortunately, you cannot add an address, but that would be asking for too much.GPRS speed is very fast, and browsing on Wap 2.0 plus a good colour screen makes a really good combination. The ringtones are crisp and melodious, but their volume is too low and there is a possiblity that calls may be missed. Also missing is the popular Profiles feature.Due to this limitation,if you want to make your phone silent or without vibration you will have to change the whole basic setup itself which is very annoying.

Other Factors:

The feel of the phone is solid, but not robust or bulky at all.At 80 grams it's one of the lightest phones, and slips into any corner comfortably and un-noticingly.It has a glossy finish, which makes it prone to finger marks or stains, but can be easily wiped off. However,it can get scrachted easily,so pamper it a little. The keypad size is a bit small. The SIM card holder is very nicely designed, just slide the card in,but I think it may eventually it may get a bit scratched.Voice Clarity is good, and network reception strong.

Overall I can only say positive things about this phone,as I found it excelling in everything it did. Especially for the price

Samsung sells this phone, this phone is like a high end handset.
