In my circle, I am known for changing my mobile phones quite frequently. I have tried them all...from the Siemens to the Nokias, the Panasonics, the Sagems, the Mitsubishis, the Philips to the Samsungs.

Today I have a Samsung R 220 but with a twist, mine's with a flip top and I don't even know it's model code! And yes, I have been carrying this one for a year now! Talk of love at first ring!.

Of course, that's not the only reason why I have that phone. The other reason is that nobody wants to buy it from me!

But Wait!...don't think that I am demeaning the 4 inch piece of Korean expertise. No I am not. It's just that I get bored with any kind of mobile phone within a max of 4-5 months. So I did make a few feeble attempts to sell it earlier. But after getting no positive response, I left it at that.

You know, I may be writing the review under a wrong sub-heading but I read a couple of reviews for this model here and they seemed to fit the description to the 'T'. Anyway I think they have stopped making the R 220s with a flip top, which is unfathomable because the flip top is pretty helpful.

Now let me tell u about the phone. It's a cute-looking phone, not too big in size, weighs approx 100-110 gms., making it a medium weight phone as compared to the new sleek and slim phones in the market. My phone is a royal blue color with a blue flip top and silver border on the screen. There's a fixed antenna which helps in the basements.

I usually do not switch off the phone at all. Full battery discharge takes place in about 3 days. 2 hrs. of charging is enough for the battery to last 2 days.

Features :

A very featureful phone, all of them pretty useful.

You have log of Missed, Received and Dialled numbers 10 each, Simple MESSAGE option, 20 TONES and option to compose 3 more. SETTINGS menu is pretty interesting. You can change the color of the service light (the tiny LED that keeps flickering on the extreme top left corner). Choose from Green, Orange, Red, Violet and Blue. Then u have LCD settings wherein you can choose to either have an Image or a real-time clock to be displayed on the screen when the phone is not in use. That's pretty cool. There are 5 images to choose from here also.

The ORGANIZER has useful features like Scheduler, Daily or weekly alarm, calculator, world time, clock etc.

Then there are the GAMES like Casino, Mole and Hexa.

This phone is also WAP enabled though I haven't been able to use it so far.

The backlight is a powerful but not-hurting-the-eyes BLUE and looks good on a fairly large size display screen.

There is a handsfree set alongwith the phone which is pretty useful if u are driving or doing some work. The voice quality is very good and clear. Unlike my previous PANASONIC GD-90, I've had no complaints from anybody so far regarding the voice quality.

I purchased this one for 9000/- Rs. a year back, now it's approx. 7000/- or something.

All in all...a very useful and value for money phone which looks good too. A very rare combo of beauty and brains! (Please..female members, it's just a cliche!)
