Hi everyone,
Samsung's latest entry into the budget class phones which sports features usually found in the higher end models from other brands such as its 65,000 color active matrix screen, 40 tone polyphonic, GPRS and Java. Apart from the advanced features for a budget phone, the C100 comes in an attractive package.
Slim and light is what the phone is touted as and this is really quite true. Some of wallpapers also have a pretty cool 3D effect which I can't capture on the camera. First time I've seen a 3D effect in a phone!
Messaging - Supports EMS/SMS and has 50 messages memory. And no MMS here (but not many ppl use MMS ...)
Battery - The battery has 800 mAh capacity. According to the manufacturer, it could provide up ot 3 hours of talking time and up to 145 of standby time. In reality the handset operated about 4 days in case of 10 minutes of talking per day (Beeline network) and up to 15 minutes of using other applications. Time of full charging is about 2 hours.
TONES - You can set various ringing tones to personalize your phone: one of the 6 bells, one of the 8 animals voices (horse, dog, birds and so on), one of the 31 melodies. Melodies are different - modern and classical, they can satisfy all needs. I think you will be delighted by them, taking into consideration that the phone has polyphonic melodies and a loud sound.
RECEPTION - This phone has an excellent reception quality. It didn?t have any problems. Volume of the sound is high. 40-tones polyphony is also loud; you can easily hear it when the phone is under clothes. Sometimes you can miss calls in too noisy places. In this case a vibrating alert can help you. It is average, but you can fill it rather well, probably because of the thin case. The speaker volume is VERY LOUD and you can hear the other person very clearly even if you were in a disco ;-) same goes for the other person hearing you. Reception is a very strong point.
FLAW - The big disappointment is, the English language T9 is not expandable. which means you can't added your own words to this T9 dictionary as u can in nokias... not a problem but its kinda irritating when typing slangs etc... and NO MMS
Customisations - If you have an Infra red enabled computer you can use EASYGPRS software from samsung (freeware) and transfer images.
Animations, screensavers, ringtones etc to the fone. The 40 Tone polytone is one of the best around and produces voice quality sounds perfectly. You can sync your SMS messeages and Phonebook contacts also using the EASY GPRS software.
If you are not looking for a camera phone or you just want to upgrade to a Color screen phone then look no further coz nothing beats the 64K UFB screen of C100. Its just too good, bright, sharp. And lastly many of the nokia's I owned have a bad habit of hanging and rebooting... nothing like this for the C100.
In a nutshell
SCREEN - 64K rocks
TONES - 40 Tone polyphony (plays everything realistically from HIPHOP to your own voices
SMS - 50 Message phone memory plus 10 templates. Supports EMS (ringtones/pictures/long sms over sms)
Phonebook - Mamoth 500 number memry with 3 numbers per entry.
Calender - All your appointments and others go here...
Games - 4 Games (2 java)
Looks - Too cool with blue key lights and 7 color service light on top.
Customisation - High level with EASYGPRS from Samsung.com
Cheers
Sid
