I didn't really need a 1080p TV considering that it'll be some time before I buy a blue-ray player and that I'll probably grow old before our cable gets hi-def, but I still went with it since the lower res TV's were not so good. This TV has most of the features of the pricier TV's like excellent blacks, good color reproduction, all sorts of controls on the tint, white balance and stuff.
I also got a good deal at a 60k price for Diwali with some extra gifts thrown in. That finally made me jump off the fence and buy an LCD TV. I didn't really need the 40 inch size but my wife and peer-pressure dictated that decision cheating on the 150 words.. :)
