I had purchased SAMSUNG LCD TV(Model: LA32R81BM) on 17th April 2008, i.e., just 1 year 5 months back for approx. Rs.48000/- from JP Electronics, Mumbai. It had started showing some problem from August 09. By September 09, the picture is almost not viewable. It has become very bright & white.
I called up SAMSUNG service center.(Call registration BP No.8410744726). Their engineer visited my place on 12/09/2009. As per him, Panel of TV is damaged and I will have to replace the same. He gave me an estimate of Rs.24000/- for replacement of Panel. The Panel has damaged due to humidity.
First of all my question is how the panel of a LCD TV, which is the heart of the LCD TV, can become useless in less than 1.5 years. I have purchased this TV set for approx. Rs.48000/- and within such a small period it has broken down, that also due to a small problem like humidity which is very common in Mumbai. This LCD TV could not even stand 2 monsoons.
Such a highly priced product is getting damaged just due to small problem like humidity. If this is the problem either they should fix this before selling or stop selling this product in Mumbai and other areas where humidity is very high. Otherwise there should be an extended warranty.
I met SAMSUNG service centre Manager on 19/09/2009. After a lot of arguments and exchange of mails he is ready to give me 25% discount(which is supposed to be availed of in a time span of just 7 days). This is absolutely unacceptable.
I have gone through many sites on the internet and came to know this is one of the most common problems with the SAMSUNG LCD TVs. And SAMSUNG people are also aware of this fact hence they are offering such discounts to calm down customers.
Apart from this LCD TV, in last 2 years I have purchased 6 SAMSUNG products viz. Refrigerator, Washing Machine, Air Conditioner, Digital Camera, 2 Mobile phones. When I told Service Centre Manager about Brand Loyalty his answer was “I should have tried other brands also for comparing SAMSUNG products with them”. This gives me a picture that SAMSUNG does not honour its loyal customers.
I am trying my best to get it repaired free of cost from SAMSUNG as I have already paid a higher amount than what this TV deserves. Hope SAMSUNG will understand its loyal customer’s plight.
