I have had the Samsung Galaxy S Duos for 6 months now and my honest opinion is that its a con. The phone is not half as good as its specs would lead you to believe. 1 month into use and you will realise that the phone has already become slow.
The most basic functions take FOREVER to perform. Samsung, if you are reading this, have some shame and remove this useless product from the market.
When you get a call, it takes ages for it to show you the name of the called or to give you the answer/reject call options. When you go to contacts it take a long time to load the contacts.
If you have wifi, Gps and mobile data on then you cannot play games because the performance is jerky. you have to switch everything off to play a single game... and woe betide you if you get a call in the middle of a game.
The headphones are buggy because they keep switching between bass and treble on their own and if you press the answer button on them to attend a call then it takes about 25-30 sec for the call to get answered the gallery takes ages to load. When typing a message the letters you type show quite sometime AFTER you have moved onto the next word.
If you are using 2 sims then if you are making a call then you have to choose the sim for the outgoing call (from the setting) Before you make the call. Out of 645mb of ram that you get about 580mb is always in use adding to the performance problems of the phone.
Update:9 months into use and suddenly my phone would just freeze if the screen was locked. The only way to keep it alive was to keep it plugged into the system. Gave it to the Samsung service center and they informed me that the reason it was not working was because the motherboard was gone!!!! IN 9 MONTHS!!! It was replace under warranty... service was prompt... no complaints there but as for the product... USELESS as ever.
Again, Samsung, have some decency and rid the world of this useless collection of stupidity that you call the Galaxy S Duos. It has to be the most shameless attempt at making money by you (Samsung). You could have at least given us something that WORKS!
If you really plan on buying this phone then you should know that there are better things that you can do with the money... like set it on fire and keep yourself warm. NOT AT ALL worth even 1 buck. it would be a better option to save some more money and invest in a better phone...like maybe the Samsung galaxy grand.
