Great phone, to Samsung more usual well engineered standard. Absolutely ideal for a teen at a sensible price for sim free allowing use of any PAYG sim and your totally free to switch deals as/when it suits you. Really negates any reason to give a teen a £400+ iwhotsit. Good points - Typical Samsung screen, big enough, bright sharp and rich. Plenty of power, really very snappy to use benchmarked against the excellent MotoG and my Samsung Note its quick. SD card slot that can take say a £15 64GB card and the OS allows you to shift your game data and many apps over to it keeping main memory free. Accessories such as cases are easily available. Glass seems tough, its not advertised as Gorilla glass but their own version. There is a video on you tube of a guy attacking it on a J5 with a kitchen knife and it survives OK! Battery is good. Feels great size, back cover is grip-pier than older Samsung's with smooth backs. Has a good 13MP camera and the good front camera has a flash too for party selfies as that's what teens are in to. Samsung have tidied up and smartened up the quick but dull Goggle Lollipop OS nicely. Bad points - no front flashing LED for 'notification waiting', Camera app is bit basic, no voice control? but this could be resolved by many 3rd part apps, a bit of bloat that needed disabling ( easily done in the app manager) , speaker reasonable but not outstanding.

Samsung has released a few attempts at cheap phones recently and they were just a bit too nasty, with this one they have taken a different approach and gone mid range playing to their strengths. Basically this phone has all the essentials and key things you need to a high quality with very minor things shaved off ( did you really want a barometer? ) at a lot less than Samsung's flagship models. Good job.
