When we decided to change our still running 10yrs old Godrej Cold Cold 160l without any issues, I started my hunt for our new Fridge. You may wonder why I have to change from the working fridge.
It all begun when I saw the fridge was dumped from everything in the Kitchen Store room. Name it; it will be there in the fridge. My mom began to give explanations for storing the Flour, Oil, Coffee Powder telling reason after reason for each item like worms won't come, the coffee aroma won't go... Because of this, I don't have enough space in the fridge for my Pastries, Cool drinks and ice creams. With that, we decided to go for a bigger and new fridge.
With all the brand endorsements, prints, media advertisements, friends opinions I stuck my mind on LG. I went store after store looking for our new fridge. LG was amazing with the door cooling patented technology, designer handle, and the fresh and daring colors. Decided to go with LG, I asked for 340L. They don't have the color I wanted. I was looking for Steel finish. One showroom had it in 290l not in 340l. I was shown one Golden color. I went to another showroom they showed me Blue. Another showed a green. Another one white. But I didn't find mine. And everyone told me LG makes only one color in 340l. No one accepted that I saw a different color in another showroom.
So I went directly to the LG only showroom by LG and they said they will get one. Without seeing it in my eyes I don't want that get delivered. I excused them and started my second round of hunt.
Until then, I haven't given a second look at other brand fridges. But few stores recommended Electrolux to me. It has lot of features except the crappy door side storage. It was the worst in design (only the door side storage) and it shows how much they understand the Indian market.
And I saw this Samsung. It was not inviting though. The long, PVC handle was really not attracting me. With more second thoughts, I opened the fridge. Wow. I fell for it. The racks and the door side boxes are really made with so much thought. They all had Frost finish and really durable. To trust me, you go to any showroom and open any make of the fridge, you will realize how true it is. Almost every brand used some cheap plastics and blue color paints to mark what it is.
To compete with LG and to avoid the patent issue, Samsung also gives its own door cooling technique in the name of ice beam. Only exception, the door cooling was pushed a little inside. Somebody explained me, the size of the duct really matters when it comes to cooling. LG has made a small duct and the door cooling effect. But Samsung has a wider duct as well as equivalent door cooling slots. My happiness doubled then. The inside lamp is also neatly placed.
So Samsung 340l is two weeks old in our home. My mom is beaming as she got more space to dump few more store room items with only one condition, space for my stuff. It's silent and working fine. It may be too early to write more on the functionality. I am happy that I made a right choice.
