I have purchased a Samsung 29”Flat Television, Model 29M16ML about 4 months back, right from day one the picture at the bottom was distorted and there was a green patch on the right side of the screen which in-between extended to the center of the screen. This has made watching this TV a pain and the color patch is a continues source of irritation. The fault was brought to the notice of the dealer and the service centre, after repeated calling the service engineer visited and checked the TV. He went back without rectifying the problem and told me that the complaint was still active and he would come back with a solution after consulting his senior.
I had to repeatedly follow up and after much persuasion another engineer came and tried to rectify the problem, but could not do so. He informed me that the CRT settings were not proper, and the CRT needs to be replaced. I then lodged a complaint with Samsung on their site, but still no move was made by Samsung engineers to solve the problem. I again kept on repeatedly reminding the service engineer, he told me that it was normal to have a curvature at the bottom of the picture in a 29’ TV and the color patch was due to magnetic interference.
There is no magnetic field around the TV, as there is no source of any magnetic field around and at the same place a Phillips TV was placed and it never had any such problem, also most of the speakers nowadays come with a shielding. Even after switching off the main power, and on turning the same on, the green patch reappears; if it was due to a magnetic interference then I think it should disappear after switching(Demagnetizing). I have a Phillips 29”& Phillips 21”and an Akai 21”, and all 3 are giving very good performance, there is no curving or any color patches. Such statements by the service engineers of Samsung reflect poorly on the company after sales, as the consumers are of toady are an educated lot.
I think it was a very bad choice to have gone for a Samsung product, at that time I was thinking of going for their LCD TV, but thank god I did not do so. Samsung should concentrate and improve their after sales service or they will lose their customers’ just hope that they come forward and look and rectify the problem I am facing with their TV.
