Well Folks, This is not about Samarkand. This is all about a place called SUFI. I wrote to the MS team to add it to the list, but guess they did not notice it.

Samarkand, everyone compares to Arabian food. But is not. I find more to be of Afghani type. Frankly, after being to Arabia, I haven't had a real taste of Arabian food in India. All those who claim to be Arabian, have an Indianized twist to the food which I hate.

Then I discovered Sufi. One lazy Sunday afternoon when we friends decided to converge with our families, I chose this place and man this is the best place.

As all resto's kitchen closes by a specified time. But you can hang around as long as you want. The seating is open,(No A/c) you wont feel the need for it even on a hot summer afternoon. So like other resto which switch off the A/c to drive you out (like the Rice bowl on Lavelle Road) or Only place which has the audacity to write, ''We cannot seat you till your party is over'', this place is a welcome change. Hang around as long as you like on the diningarea or the granite benches.

Place is so open that you would not mind the person next to you lighting up their cigarettes!

Ambience is fantastic. Looks like inspired roofs (demolished like bombed). The furniture, thick wooden tables and chairs....the fans and airy room (its a big hall) all transport you to another world. 15m away is the bustling Airport Road. But inside you are away from it all!

Food is the best. I stuck to Arabian dishes (I came here for that! Why would I want to consider North Indian!). Man the Kebabs are our of this world. Specially prepared (he must have arabian cooks!) makes our indian kababs (notice the spell difference) seem like fried meat!

Totally non spicy and releases the taste of the food. Unlike our dishes, these are not masked by the spices!

Alcohol is available and you can try out their cocktails.

Handicap friendly, yes if they are serving on the the ground floor.

Kid friendly, yes

Credit Cards accepted.

A tribute to the cuisine I must say would be the Arabian crowd that I saw there. Even one of the cooks was Arabian!

If you looking for some Arabian cuisine and a lazy lunch, I would recommend you to see this place. Slightly on the expensive side (Around 300 per head) but worth the experience!

The waiter might be a little bit ignorant! I like to eat their pickles plain but he in a connoisseur mood tells me that it would not be good! I hated that

I havent been able to get my authentic ''KABSA'' other than from the Middle East!

Add this place to the list to take your friends/relatives when they come to Bangalore
