Unrest in East Pakistan started as the Bengali Muslims demand for freedom from the tortures of Urdu speaking Muslims of West Pakistan. Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman was leading from the front. 'Ebaar er sangram, amader mukti r sangram'. On 25th March 1971, several students of Dhaka University were killed by the West Pakistan Army. Tikka Khan was the 'Butcher of Balochistan', and in 1971, became the 'Butcher of Bengal.' Around 7 million Bengali Muslims of East Pakistan have entered India through Bengal, Assam and Tripura as refugees to save themselves from the soldiers of West Pakistan. Indira Gandhi was an expert in International diplomacy and gave a green signal. 'Badhte chalo, badhte chalo, ruk na nahi, jhuk na nahi, badhte chalo.' On 3rd December 1971, the Pakistani soldiers made an attack in Jammu by crossing the Chenab river. The Indian Air Force took the sweet revenge in style by entering into the Pakistan soil and destroyed all their air fields and war tanks.

The Indian Navy made such an attack on the Karachi Port that it became non operational for 48 hours or so. Finally, the Indian Army entered Dhaka; the Indian Navy captured all the ports of East Pakistan; all the air fields of East Pakistan have been destroyed by the Indian Air Force. The Pakistani soldiers in East Pakistan surrendered in front of the Indian Armed Forces. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto still took an aggressive stance at the UN Security Council meeting. Even in the western front, the Pakistani soldiers were forced to march backwards with a humiliating defeat.
