Salt Lake Intl airport has always been a pleasure to be in.

For one your plane never has a delayed landing because of airport clearance problems. The airport has considerably less passenger traffic although it can get crowded on weekends.

The time from your stepping out from the plane and stepping into your car can be pretty quick. The baggage conveyors are inclined conveniently enough and don't seem to those kind which damage your baggage. Also various car rental facilities are located on the ground floor of the building right across the terminal area and these guys will quickly shuttle you to their car parkings and you can be on your way. The same building also serves as a short term parking area(30 mins free and then it goes $ 1, $ 2 and each additional hour $2). Long term parking will need you to use a shuttle service. A clean airport with a very prompt staff. Once you are out of the airport, take a left and you are on I 80 on your way to SLC. You can get on I 215 to get to any suburbs like Odgen,Sandy or Provo or drive up to I 15 and then go to where ever you want. I 15 can be crowded during rush hours though. Check the traffic at https://utahcommuterlink.com with live camera feed back

Check in is also fast. You can unload your baggage right in front of the gate though you can't leave your car unattended there.Get your boarding pass and then you are off to security screening which is to the left of where you check in. The queues can be huge during weekends and if you are up for an international flight you may have to cross navigate through a couple of queues if you are in the wrong queue to an area for screening international passengers. Tip: take the right most queue as it is nearest to the international screening area. The usual ''take off your shoes'' and non intrusuve scanning later you are off for a wait at your gate.

While you wait you can catch some pizzas at Pizza hut. There is Starbucks, Sbarro's, Burger King, Wasatch pub and a lot more food outlets. You can do some gift shopping too, but I havent tried any of those trinket buying shops :P

Skywest (E1-E41) flies in the highest number of times here followed by Delta (C1-C13 and D1-D13).

Overall I can say that SLC airport is a pleasant experience. While landing be sure to catch a glimpse of the Great Salt Lake to the west and the Wasatch mountains in the East. You can locate some ski resorts like the Snowbird resorts and also try locating the Capitol building and the Office Building and Temple of the Church of the Latter Day Saints.
