Salar jung museum located on the banks of river Musi the museum is acclaimed as one of the finest one man collection in the world. This museum is named after Mir Yusuf ali khan salar jung lll. He was the youngest prime minister of Nizam.

From childhood he had inhibition for toys and fantasy. The 1889 he became the prime minister and started collecting antique pieces from all over the world. In 1951 Jawaharlal Nehru inaugurated the museum. It housed 35000 exhibits collected from all corner of the world. The exhibits include illuminated manuscripts, bejewelled armories, wood cravings, sculpture in marble, cut glass collection, oil paintings, rich persian silks, wall hangings, Chinese tapesty and most importantly the famous clock. Every 60 mins a man comes out from a hidden cave and bangs the timings. It is the most beautiful and strange collection of salar jung lll.

The museum is huge and people from all corners visit the museum. This makes hyderabad more prestigious. Except Friday all days open. Entry fee is very nominal 15/-. Its must visit for all to enhance the knowledge of Nizam collection and their history. How the king salar jung collected all antique things from all over.
