I am not a fan of Marathi films but when I heard about this film, which has crossed 100 cr mark in Marathi cinema then obviously thought to see it to how & why it get so much of appreciation from bollywood fraternity despite a low budget regional movie.
Sairat means "Wild" but the lead characters Rinku Rajgur & Akash Thosar look so ordinary & real that in movie you can easily miss them in the crowd. The film look modern as first time seen heroine riding a bullet & tractor. She is not like a ordinary regional film heroine instead do what guys do & quite bold in his conversation too & hero look very shy in front of her. In movie, the guy feel shy saying " I love you" whereas heroine Archie say it openly. The first shot of the movie leaves it impression how a hero should look & do but after that heroine takes over the movie. The friends of hero are truly ordinary looking & behaves the same. The story is simple but interesting where poor guy fall in love with rich influential girl & as usual hell broke on them when girls father & brother saw both. Rest of the events makes the story gripping & end would take your breath away.
The acting of both lead characters is perfect & very real without any designer clothes. The few shots are well picturized in beautiful village backdrop with real people. The role of his friend Pradeep(crippled) also touches you when he found the girls cut nails in paper. The scene of a well look very nice in the movie.
Despite a inter caste love story, the film touches you with its simplicity, the unconventional role of Archie, the real life scenes & the end would shake you & take the movie to a " never to forget" category. The director Nagaraj Manjule made this nice such a way that it despite being a marathi movie, it can be enjoyed by all.
One of my best regional film I would say after seeing it:-)
