We have visited Sagar in Sec-17 Vashi several times in last one year and most of the time returned quite satisfied. Since it is located in a crowded area, parking is always an issue and you have to wait for some time before you can push your car in a slot.
On this visit, we managed to find a parking slot and entered this first floor 81 cover fine dining area. They also have another hall with 60 odd seats which they open only when the first part is full. Since it was still early, we easily found our favourite table and started on our journey. The staff here is very warm and welcoming and most of them are quite matured. They wouldnt bother you much but will be available when you need them and wouldnt offer suggestions unless asked, unlike many other restaurants where they will flood you with alternatives.
My one son asked for chicken clear soup (to counter his cold) and other one settled for Hot & Sour soup. Both turned out to be really good as usual. But then any res worth its salt should be able to serve good chicken clear soup. Wife asked for Fruit Punch and didnt like it so topped it with a Fresh lime soda... which can hardly go wrong. We got a non veg platter for starters. It comes with a variey of kebabs and tandoori with generous portions. It was good as always and the chef had honoured our request of keeping the spice level low.
We ordered a plate of steamed Dim Sums and it took them one hour to serve it (I must say I was warned by the captain that it will take some time). But unfortunately it was a disaster. Momos available on roadside in Delhi are far better than what they served us. Well.... wrong choice.. I'd say...We tried their chicken haka noodles for the main course and they turned out to be very good. No complaints there... well prepared and well presented.
For desserts we asked for creme caramel which was excellent, kulfi fouluda... which was good and really large and younger son asked for Rabri....He took one teaspon of it and shook his head and ended up sharing our kulfi. Just to check I tasted the Rabri and it tasted sour and the consistency was all wrong... I called up the captain who immediately removed it and in a little while came up with replacement.... I told him we didnt need it anymore but he requested me to taste it nevertheless.... Well this time it was better but it still didnt taste quite right and I told him that.
They didnt charge us for that... but then any food which is stale or not right... shouldnt reach a guest's table. That is what quality control is all about... I wish they take appropriate action to correct this. The ambience is always good.. Music is soft and soothing.. temperature a bit low...and service is excellent... overall I like this place.... but for some mishaps in between....Overall we consider it a safe choice for our outings....
