Of late, I am unable to figure out the problem with my seafood experiences in Mumbai. Are people here happy with mediocrity, ignorant of the real thing or am I being overly discerning? Strangely most of these places don’t seem to live up to the praise they get showered in the reviews.

So this weekend. My foodie quest took us to a dinner at Sadichcha , My poor wife and daughter who have few pretences. Don’t bother to play with food much…they simply get dragged along….The reviews of Sadichcha in some food blogs were impressive …. Needless to say Expectations were high

That made me wonder how we overlooked this small restaurant that is right behind the more famous cousin Highway Gomantak that we visit at least once or twice in a year. Sadichcha is a small eatery is located in a bit odd place, right next to a Saibaba temple…benches and tables are lined up, like in a train dabba….All the reviews that we had read specially mentioned the Clam Sukke ….We ordered Tisrya Sukke Chicken Liver sukke and mutton liver sukke . The clams were fresh and fleshy…the masala for all the 3 dishes was almost same. A not so big pomfret fry for Rs 500 was definitely costly for its size, Bangda flesh was not flaky white …… had a pinkish tinge….Not a sign of freshness. I have a difficulty with the fish curry rassa of Mumbai …. as thin as the “Rassa” served with Misal…. It lacks character….Also, We coastal folks can sniff out even a hint of rancidity in a coconut used in any dish…. And this unpleasant rancidity had evenly seeped in to all the coconut preparations of the day …. The fish Curry…. The masalas …….and the soul kadi…….

the only item worth writing about was the Crisp  Bombil Fry…. Otherwise not a fabulous experience
