I remember a story that was a quite popular during childhood days of mine. That two swindlers claim to be able to weave clothes which could only be seen and felt by wise people and not by those who are fools.
This arouses the King's interest who then orders the 'weavers' to make such clothes for him. The swindlers take enormous sums of money (gold coins of-course) for the same and get on with their work. After some time the king so curious that he sends his minister to check the progress made by the weavers. The minister on reaching the site does find the two weavers at work minus the cloth being weaved. The weavers then ask him give his opinion on the colour, texture etc. on which the minister fearing being labelled as a MOORKH says the clothes are the finest a human soul can ever see.The minister when asked tells his King about the greatness of the clothes. Finally the day comes when King wears those 'clothes' and makes a tour around his kingdom. People from all walks of life see but fearing to be called MOORKH say waah..waah but a child laughs loudly and teases the king saying NANGA RAJAA.Then the king realises that it was too late for everything.
We all are the same fools who do not dare to express our views honestly.
Any game is far above the individuals who play it. We won world cup in '83 against then formidable Windies (4 bowlers of which team bowling at mind boggling average speed of 90 MPH, Batsmen of class) with average players in our team with iron will and determination to deliver in team work. We won World Championship in the following year. Who can forget Kapil's 175 n.o. against Zimbabwe in '83 world cup to turn the match around. Mind you our people did these on fast and bouncy tracks of England and Australia.
Recent (2002) example of Turn around in Natwest Finals against England by Kaif and Yuvraj and INDIA won. VVS's classic knock against Aussies in Kolkata in 2001 to turn around a lost test match.
Come to Sachin, apart from his individual records, he despite being called as a genius wonder has never delivered in any crucial match. He is nevercomfortable against accurate bowlers like Chaminda Vaas, McGrath, Brett Lee, Pollock. Was never against Akram, Damien Fleming and the likes.
Why does the media asks a visiting team about Sachin ? They all say he is a stroke wonder becoz Bechaare bolein bhi to kya bolein, formality bhi to koi cheez hoti hai !
Personally I feel Sachin is more obsessed making and breaking records (at home or against average teams). I have observed he everytime pushes his partner too hard for a run when he is nearing a century or a half century. He shows no interest when his partners want to do the same. He has invariably sacrificed run rate to achieve hi 50 or 100.
Therefore there is no sach in Sachin
