STAR PLUS yesterday started Sacch Ka Saamna, the Hindi version of Moment of Truth, in association Big Synergy of Mr. Siddharth Basu who had many first in Indian TV. The mega game show will be telecasted from Mon - Fri at 10:30pm. It offers a grand prize of Rs 1 crore to any participant who can answer all of the 21 questions they face honestly.
The show will be hosted by film/TV star Rajeev Khandelwal famous because of the serial Kahiin To Hoga in 2003 on Star Plus. Sacch Ka Saamna will follow the format of its hit predecessor, Moment of Truth, which made headlines across the world for encouraging participants to reveal uncomfortable truths about their lives. I had watched a few episodes of the show on STAR WORLD.
Sach Ka Saamna is a show that makes a contestant answers the questions in front of their family and friends, questions that are awfully personal and awkward; if they are bare in-front of everyone. The participator has the choice to leave, or tell their veiled feelings; the real truth that is bound to shatter many hearts. The intense reality tests the contestant’s ravenousness for riches over relationships.
This Desi-version of ‘Moment Of Truth’ will subtly become a platform to make confessions. I wonder if We Indians will be taking the game critically or just playing agony aunt by eavesdrop to the Juicy tide-bits of others private lives. In a Nation of 100 Crores deep in the corrupt system, will we Indians as the audiences be a game for something like this when the world is full of lies and double standard?
A set of 50 random Questions are Answered, before hand by the contestant, within 25 seconds(Yes or No). The authenticity of the contestants’ responses is determined by a polygraph (lie-detector) examination and the right answers are not known to anyone, neither the production house, the host nor even the channel. And 21 out of the same set of Questions are asked again on the main show in 6 groups, before Live Audience. So, Unlike a KBC kind of quiz shows, the best part of the show is thatthe participant knows the questions that can come and also know the answer.Is That Tough? *
Try it out. The answers may break many brave hearts. I for one can say that it’s very difficult to speak the truth and that too before your family and friends digging out by gone secrets. I will be astonished, if people really have the courage to accept truth on national television. Would I like to sit on that hot seat and go through the sach? Well as of now I am happy watching the show. It most probably open up with the truths that come in light about Us, Indians and the society, which We presume has morality, ethics, family values/secrets, buried in the darkest recesses of our emotional by lanes. It might throw a few surprises and shake our core values. The First participant was a Lady, Smita Mathai,And What a Daring Lady She was. Hats off, I would not have answered most of the answers.
Sacch Ka Saamna is a truly innovative program that gives participants the chance to bare their souls and reveal hidden secrets in a quest to win a large cash prize. I have no idea if Indian will make a connection with this engaging show. But most of all, the million dollar question remains; can we, Indians find an honest person worth Rs. One crore in this Show. I have doubts. Ahh There is Only One Life Line.The family of the contestant collectively has a button in front of them, which can stop a question from being answered at anytime, but it can be used only once by the group. If the button is pushed, that question is removed and a replacement question takes its place.
I believe One of the contestants has dared to make it up to the level four and earned Rs.25 Lakhs, by alienating his family members for the greed of making a quick money. It’s Just the beginning. Also heard about Vinod Khambli and his Adventures esp with Sachin and Selectors.
Star Plus is marketing the show as brands like the KBC and en-cash on the hype to mint TRP points and some moonies. They have launched a new mobile game where users can test their friends’ courage factor by a playing a quiz on their cells. All they have to do is answer a few personal and embarrassing questions on their friends and the answers are then cross-checked with friends. Have You never Played Dare or Truth? LoL. "Have you ever been attracted to one of your Students?" Oh, I did. Well At times I don't look at mirror lest the truth blurts out. So, it takes a lot of courage to face the truth and know what people really think about you. The interactive mobile game will definitely help generate interest in the show.
Trivia: Incidentally, the Colombian show ran into trouble after a contestant replied "yes" to a question, if she had paid a hit man to kill her husband. Smita Was also asked a similar Question.
