STORY :

'Saawariya’ is a love story between two youngsters – a Hindu boy & a Muslim girl.

*‘Saawariya’ is a unique & timeless story of two young star-crossed lovers whose passions almost consume their will to the brink of self-destruction. In this eternal tale of an ode to romance, stand two lonely souls whose innocence & candour obscures their inner turmoil, anger, anxiety & desperate wait for love.

*'SAAWARIYA' means "BELOVED".

One of Lord Krishna's many names who is adored as Saawariya.Only the lovers who stands against the test of time.

RAJ is an artist, a free spirit, an idealist and dreamer.

Raj was certain that he has found his ultimate dream when he arrives at a town. A place surrounded by mountains, shrouded in mist & beauty. Eventually Raj finds a mysterious girl standing alone at a bridge. There starts saawariya when Raj finds a chance to introduce himself to a girl called SAKINA& then follows Raj's charming ways to win Sakina's heart through friendship.

Raj is unable to accept her haunting past and their friendship pulls him into a whirlwind of desire, madness and romance. (Sakina's past is not revealed)

One the other hand, IMANa romantic & flirtatious who speaks crassly, a little khadus but has a sense of humour about everything.(speacial appearance)

And GULAB a cameo & a pr*stitute.(special appearance)

Thus the story is all about love, romance, desire, desperations & struggle between two opposite caste lovers but not much has been revealed but we can assume from the banner.

ABOUT MAKING OF THE MOVIE & MASTER STORYTELLER - SANJAY L. BHANSALI :

*The film is said to be inspired from Fyodor Dostoevsky’s short story ‘White Nights’.

The two newcomers Bhansali chose were Ranbir and Sonam. Both had assisted him during the making of ‘Black’. Sonam was weighing 90 kgs. When Bhansali told her to work on her body to get back in shape to play the leading lady in ‘Saawariya’. Sonam worked hard & within a few months she lost 30 kgs.

Ranbir was told not to build his physique. Bhansali wanted a lean-looking hero. Ranbir has also revealed his bare torso in a song in the film. In the song, a love-struck Ranbir is showing singing and dancing with just a towel on.

Most of the movie has been shot in the misty night-light that was artificially created in the studios. Before the shooting commenced, Bhansali asked Ravi Chandran to give a surrealistic shade to the visuals.For the first time in India, space lights have been used in a variety of ways.But the challenge was to maintain a consistent look throughout the film. The movie was shot on eight sets and in the story.

Atlast, one will surely enjoy the visual effects, the sets designed, the costumes, the photography & ofcourse music - all done in an artistic way.
