Saawariya a movie that everyone was looking forward to, a movie which looked magic by just seeing its promos, a Sanjay Leela Bansali film is always special because of its lavish sets and great story and amazing direction. After the super success of Hum Dil De Chuke Hain Saanam, Devdas and black Sanjay Leela Bansali was known to be one of the most amazing directors of Indian cinema with his film making. He now introduces two new comers in his next project Saawariya. Ranbir Kapoor(Son of Rishi Kapoor) and Soonam Kapoor(Daughter of Anil Kapoor) Expectation were high for this film. But unfortunately Saawariya turned out to be the biggest bore fest in my view in bollywood history. I watched the first half and I gave up on it, then yesterday I went back and gave the film another chance and watched the second half. I could not believe this was the man that gave us Black and Devdas. This was not what I expected from Sanjay leela Bansali. There was not even one good scene in this movie that you can carry home with you. Fine some movies are bad but they have those one good scenes you can take back and say “Yes that was a good scene in that movie” Saawariya did not even have one scene which I would remember.

The Story starts of with musician Raj(Ranbir Kapoor) he has arrived to a town; he seems to be a strong believer in love. One night he spots a girl on a bridge crying called Sukhi(Soonam Kapoor) He instantly falls in love with her straight away. They both get to know each other. Raj is happy he is in love, but she tells him that she is in love with someone else(Salman Khan) that’s why she is always standing at the bridge waiting for him. As he left and she believes he will return, Raj is heartbroken but still believes her love will not return so he tries winning over Sukhi. But Sukhi is more madly in love with her love.

Basically the story is not bad, but the movie is really slow but yet again rushed. You don’t understand okay I will explain. The movie drags big time with useless scenes between Raj and his tenant which by the way is not a treat to watch. Raj falls in love with Sukhi straight away like at first sight. I don’t know about you but a single handshake can not make any guy fall in love. If falling in love is so easy then I am sure everyone would be in love in this world right now. I can easily go up to anyone and help them out and they could shake my hand and I could fall in love with them. Also the story between Sukhi and Salman khan was half baked. A man turns up at her doorstep asking for a room, she instantly falls for him. Why? Do we know? NO we do not know just one night for some weird reason she goes into his room and sleeps on the side of his bed for no reason. What jaddu did salman khan do to make her fall for him the story did not mention this at all this was why the story was half baked. Also Sukhi character soon becomes annoying she was quite at first and then takes a drastic change to becoming really annoying and never taking anything seriously. These love paths had no real reason why anyone should be in love. For example I am not comparing. Raj and simrun in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le jayenge, they were not in love at first sight when you watch a movie you have to realise why the character feels the way he or she did, Raj and Simrun fell for each other after spending quality time together. Evan Sanjay leela Bansalis movie, Hum Dil de Chucke Saanam explains why Salman and Ashwariya rai fell for each other. and why ashwariya choose ajay devgan at the end. Saawariya does not explain it and that’s where it falls flat as you don’t understand why and what’s going on and you just don’t care if the couple end up together at the end.

As for music goes the starting was really good with the Saawariya track and then 3 mins later we get another song which slows the movie down. Songs to watch out for is Jab se tere Naina, Yun Shabnami, that’s it’s the other songs slow the film down big time.

Ranbir Kapoor does okay I really thought he would do better, by the way he dances really well do look out for Yun Shabnami he really does well in there. Acting wise he hams a lot and overacts big time a disappointing performance.

Soonam Kapoor is awful to say the least, she looks amazing and she also dances well in Yun Shabnami. She starts off well, and then her character takes a huge change and starts becoming annoying.

Salman Khan is looking fat and old, he is there for the flashback and at the end, and he does not pull a huge impact like he said he would. Again not a great or even a good performance at all he was wasted in this film big time just there for showing his face. Rani Mukerkji a little longer in the film not a special appearance in my view but supporting actress material part, rani Mukerji has never been so annoying I hate her “I likes” line she keeps saying she really did not suite the role and her character was half baked just like everyone else in the movie.

Overall stay away, stay very much away I recommend this film if you ever want a good night sleep. Trust me you will fall asleep watching this movie at least once I think I feel asleep. Like two times and I had to rewind it back and see what I missed, a film that you will not care about and after all the hype around this film you will say to your self “was all the hype really worth it?” Have a good day people do add comments on my review.
