This movie is everything its hyped up to be. I saw this movie on a rainy Christmas night in Fremont, California (where else would Indians go on a national American holiday but an Indian movie theatre?). Anyway, I love everything about this movie. The songs were amazing. Not since 'Dil Se' had a soundtrack sound so good as 'Saathiya'. This movie is basically a relationship movie. It is definitely formulaic in the sense that it's like a Romeo & Juliet theme. It is about two beautiful people that throw every precaution away & fall madly, deeply & DANGEROUSLY in-love. That said, one either has the stomach for these types of films (like I do) or not at all.

Alas, my favorite part of the review! Call me vain but sometimes I watch movies based on the pure physical appearance & feel of it. My favorite new Hero, Vivek Oberoi: OMG! He is GORGEOUS! I first saw this hunk in Company & I knew that he'd make it big. Move over Hrthik, Arjun and all the Khans. Vivek is the perfect combination of good looks, acting ability and screen projection. And to echo what another girl said in her review...THANK GOD there were no stupid mansions, Swiss Alps & overdone makeup.

Rani Mukherji: Doctor Suhani. I love Rani! She was really good in this one. Her acting was top notch & very believable. She's so facially beautiful & her acting is sincere. Rani is one of the industries best actress. Her acting performance was MILES ahead of Vivek who had a tendency to look wooden bu otherwise, gorgeous. The only problem I had with this movie was Rani's weight problem. This is a majorly exposed movie with heavy publicity & distribution. I was hoping that Rani would have dieted a bit more for her role as Miss Suhani since this was a much hyped Yash Chopra film. Don't get me wrong, Rani is STUNNING...from the neck up. Unfortunately, the rest of her didn't. She was a little chubby in 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' alongside the svelte & sexy Kareena but in 'Saathiya' she looked downright FAT. What's up? There were fatty rolls on her stomach when she was wearing her lehnga choli & her rear-end looked enormous in one scene where she was wearing pants. Please Rani, we like to brag to our phirang friends about how beautiful bollywood actresses are. Please don't embarrass us any further by staying fat. I expect you to look less puffy by your next movie...I hope, for your sake & the sake of your adoring fans like me.

Anyway, that's all I have to say. I love this movie & I absolutely cannot wait until it comes out on DVD.
