This is the umpteenth review on Saathiya, but this time from a girl’s perspective that would call Dr. Suhani’s reaction normal, her insecurities inherent to newly solemnized marriages especially where her husband had the reputation of being a (seemingly!) wayward, irresponsible guy.

To begin with, let me quote The Bible on love:

“Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud;

love is not ill mannered or selfish or irritable;

love does not keep a record of wrongs;

love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth.

Love never gives up;

and its faith, hope and patience never fail.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

The Story::

Aditya (acted par excellence by Vivek Oberoi) is a rich happy-go-lucky typical spoilt brat who falls, first out of fun ( mad at first sight- waywardly response), and then desperately in love with a middle class medical student Suhani (perfect, reliable Rani Mukerjee). The economic difference, plus their respective parents

un-reined-in tongues doom the chances of a respectable marriage and the couple is forced to make an undignified exit from their parents’ home and reluctantly, from their hearts. Misunderstandings crop up due to the girl’s insecurities which start sounding the sirens of the marriage, but a siren of a different kind restores the marriage on to the track of conjugal bliss, excluding the railways where the love story first picked up its momentum..

Beautiful movie !!

Cast And Crew::

Direction by Shaad Ali, though picked up frame by frame from the original Alai Pauythey, does not disappoint coz it does not taste like reheated yesterday’s dal. It has the freshness of a new movie. The scenes involving the train where the main leads lock eyes, pregnant with anticipation, are the highlights.

Camera work,locales shooting are breathtaking,yet very real.The residence of the girl, the railway platform looked perfect,unembarrassing n surprisingly real with no air brushing.Each and every frame is an eyetonic.Especially mind numbing,though is the mishap seen which looks extremely real.

Kudos to those guys !!!

Songs hem in with the feelings.

The surprise elements in the form of Tabu –and SRK were perfect for lending weight to a married couple. Anybody else would have shifted the attention to the mishap but their presence showed an aspect of love in times of peril.

Perfect cast, truly.

Bleeding Hearts::

Vivek steals the show, though. His attitude makes you want to fall in love with him. Suhani’s reaction when she meets him after the refusal was a very normal reaction coz she was in love with him, but was avoiding him because she was indebted to her parents for everything..

After tying the knot, Suhani was racked with insecurities because she did not know if her husband was worth all the pain, and who was known for being quite reckless. Certain incidents seemed to make her worst fears come true. After all, the kind of guy Aditya was, except for his looks, no girl would have wanted to attach strings with a guy known to all vices. But love conquers all.

If such movies aren’t appreciated, intelligent movies will not be made in the north. I just hope this never happens.

The End::

When we search for a spouse we look for someone who won’t add to our troubles but subtract them, who isn’t prone to vices et al.

But when love happens, we cover the minutest detail of that person on the colourful canvass of life, then the grey shades look like an indispensable tinge.

A girl once went to an Internet chat room and entered into a scuffle with a boy who was constantly interfering her chat session with somebody else. Witty exchanges, character assassinations followed though not serious ones, which revealed that the boy was like apna Aditya, vices and all. Soon the girl was charmed by the guy’s attitude. Friendship prevailed, continued through mails, blossomed into love and subsequently a marriage invitation was posted on the web, with due permission from the parents. The day before yesterday they celebrated their 5th ‘Happy’ Wedding Anniversary and a day before that, their twin kids 3rd B’day.

Love in its true colours!!
