Truly speaking the saas - bahu saga has extended beyond limits. We are made to believe that the woman on tv who seems to be the first or maybe the second time pregnant is a mother of 5 children, 3 of them married. Can u believe that??.............. I think that's the magic of tv.............sab kuch ho sakta hai. I'm not here to go on complaining abt the K - serials.

I'm here to review on a serial which dares to be different from any kind of politics...........kitchen or office politics. The story is of another middle - class, educated, ambitious girl ( after Jassi & Pooja ) who wants to take on life on her own terms. I'm talking about Saakshi.

The serial of the same name is aired for 1 hr at 9 pm on Saturday on Sony entertainment which seems to have become an overly-ambitious-women-portraying channel.Ok, lets cut the sarcasm coz I love the channel b'coz it has more variety than the Star (Ekta) channel. Back to Saakshi, the show is abt this girl who enters a world mainly dominated by men.........an anti-terrorist organization - ASTRA or Allied Strategic Terrorism Research Association. Here she secretly works as a frontline member and spy, under her chief Shekhar Gupta, and colleagues Deepak (a strict person who thinks that a woman is a homemaker and can never be a good spy), Mani (who can't take his eyes off women), Behram (a computer genius), Ashwin (another fresher with Saakshi and a tough competiter), and Sheena (who is the only woman other than Saakshi).

Saakshi is loosely inspired by Fiza and Mouli Ganguli of the Kahiin Kisi Roz fame plays the role of what Karishma played in the film. She has a brother Vijay who has not returned home since the last 7 yrs a la Hrithik in the film and a sister Aarti, who stays out of house till the wee hrs of morning to study with friends or that's what she says.

Saakshi's parents, an overly possessive mother who wants to get her daughters married and a cool father who loves to have more than 20 cups of tea everyday, do not know abt their daughter's work and they think that she works in a tea manufacturing company - Good Morning Tea - .............from the sound it seems to be bogus..... dont u think.

The heroine joins the organization so that she can prevent another mother from losing her son. Well, Saakshi, shows that a woman can do anything if she is determined to do it???even in a man?s world.

Characters & Actors: Saakshi - Mouli Ganguli - has done a decent job as the spy but what makes her character believable is the way she balances her role as a concerned daughter, loving sister & a spy who has more mental strength than physical strength. She is not a Krishna of Krishna Arjun, but a real girl.

Shekhar Gupta - Samir Soni - yes uv seen him as the lovable Purab in Jassi ......... but dont think of him as the cute business man with drop dead looks & a lingering sweet smile coz then ull be utterly dissapointed. Here he is a non - smiling, intense eyed, tough to his toe guy who says his dialogues in the very tone of his character.

Deepak - Amit Saad - u have seen him in a number of serials like Kyun hota hai pyar, Kkoi dil mein hai, etc. Here he is quite amazing as the sarcastic women-hater. He looks tough too when he saves Saakshi from falling from the window of the 7th floor of a building. Mani - he's got some serials to his credit like Kundali, Kanyadaan etc. He plays a nice person who does not mind girls around him 'very nicely'.

Behram ? remember Dil vil pyar vaar, he played a girl and a boy together. Well, here he plays only a guy, who is a foody and a genius in computers. He looks quite sweet in this role. Sheena ? the only girl here b4 Saakshi joined. A great spy and a perfect companion to whoever works with her. This girl, I?v seen her in many serials, looks wonderful as a spy in her suits and in that sari she wore that last day. Acting wise, she?s got the experience, so it shows on screen.

Ashwin Dighe ? fresher, competitor. This new guy seems to be truly new on screen but does show the toughness that the character needs. Acting wise, he doesn?t have to do much. Terrorists ? there have been 2 yet. Mir & Baaz aka Arjun Malhotra. They portrayed the same eccentric type terrorists as shown on tv today. Baaz did where suits than the usual pathan suit that this clan wears. He was played by an actor who generally plays hero on other serials ? Manish Goel aka ex-Tilak of Bhabhi. He has really matured as an actor. Saakshi?s parents ? actors r good but the mother seems to be over-doing her bit.

Aarti ? Saakshi?s sis, her character suits her well. She doesn?t have to do much other than climbing over windows, hugging her sister all the time and shouting a bit????bara cool hai?. Well, here are the story, characters & actors for u. This was enough reason for me to watch the show every Saturday.

If u want more reasons, just name them.
