I am a doctor myself. I have had the top of the range comprehensive star insurance cover for my family for over 2 months by paying Rs. 40, 000 as premium due to the rising cost of health care. Unfortunately my wife(doctor) was admitted with dengue like viral fever with a 5 day duration for 2 days needing blood transfusion. The insurance refused to pay saying they anemia is not covered.
I am a doctor and know when a claim is legit. Even the doctor treating my wife spoke to them to explain that the anemia is due to the infection, but they still refused. Essentially they will find any excuse not to pay out. I would be very careful with this company. The only good thing is that I have learnt my lesson with a small damage of a few thousand rupees and not when my medical bill is in lacs. I will needless to say now cancel my policy and move to another. Goodbye star insurance.
