Claim reference: Star Health Insurance CIR/2024/161116/0257xxx
A 75 year old lady was admitted to Delhi hospital with acute bleeding from the gut. There was no prior history. The blood loss which had started 2 days earlier was so severe that it needed emergency transfusion of 3 units of blood. Following this the bleeding was successfully treated by endocopic coagulation. In spite of the Surgeon, the Hospital and the Patient having submitted all details and medical and insurance records the cashless claim for which she was eligible was summarily rejected without any grounds or explanation by Star Health insurance.
Following this, she submitted all the documents in original after her discharge from the Hospital. This was couriered from Delhi to the Star Health insurance office in Chennai. However, the claim being dragged for more than a month with no communication regarding the status of the claim.
Being a Senior Surgeon I am shocked at the apathy of this insurance company in what is a open and shut case. I can only sympathise with the harassment the patients have to suffer in addition to their illness. The patient very strongly regrets having chosen Star Health Insurance as her health insurance provider
