Rustom is a perfect example of how tawdry cinema gets showcased in India. This is what sells, unfortunately seems to work as well for the Indian multitude.

The problem isn’t with the aspiring filmmakers though; it is with the average Indian mentality. Even though we are sprawled out at ease in 2016, our thoughts are still abounding in the narrowness of our past. We are changing no doubt, but it is more of a scion change that derives inspiration from time. One’s thoughts, perspective and feelings are forced upon every newborn. The posterity, with the lack of proper healthy unscrupulous environment, learn whatever their ascendants are trying to enforce upon. They reek of their parent’s, and are literally moulded by inbred ideologies. So, whatever we see today we try to weigh it with time, and judge them with our preinstalled memories. That’s the crime we commit – leaving our judgments into the hands of our narrow-minded notions that we still unknowingly judge the world by.

Rustom starts off on a serious note with Rustom pavri killing his friend, business person upon knowing the illicit affair of his wife with him. What follows is known to everyone. We all know that Rustom will walk out non-guilty at last in the court trial. But everyone was interested what events lead to that.Interestingly film director mixed Navy affairs into the story and tried hard to make it a masala thriller to the audience. You can observe this when you realize the character of Press owner and judge of Bombay court in the film.

Though the film tries to ride under the realistic notion, you will feel that something is cooked up to make it a thriller and make it more appealing to the masses. Personally, I felt director could have handled the story better as plot reveals it up itself before your eyes in the first half-an hour,so much so that you will start guessing the twist of the story right at that moment and it eventually turns out to be true at the end.

Rustom ain't Intellectual thriller, It is a good movie with good performances from lead actors which makes it watchable till the end.Watch it with no expectations, you might end up coming out with a good feeling.
