Where is the runway?. Review on Runway Movie

INTRODUCTION

Dileep's run with a number of hits continues as he is back with another hit as he tries action here. This what I call a well-executed movie from an average plot - they made it look so good! This is not only an action movie, but most probably, it can be called a family movie with all the sentiments in it.

There are some good songs in the movie too with ''Shaaba Shaaba'', ''Pulariyiloru'' and ''Nadhiye Nile Nadhiye'' are good and the movie got what the audience had always wanted.

The name Runway actually doesn't have much to do with the movie - the name which would have suited it more would have been ''Checkpost'' - you will know why after reading the story or watching the movie. I am sure that you will not see any runway in this movie!

THE PLOT

Dileep plays Unni and his family, which consists of his mother, brother, and sister stay in the village. They believe that he is in Dubai and leading a prestigious life there, but the truth is that he is in jail accused of a murder.

They actually run their family with the money sent by Dileep. Dileep's younger brother Balu (Indrajit) is to be slected in the police soon. Kavya Madhavan plays his neighbour who lives along with her father (Oduvil Unnikrishnan).

Dileep's family wants her to marry Dileep and she too likes that even after she knows the truth about him. Later, when he is released from the jail, he goes back to his earlier business of smuggling spirit through the Valayar checkpost.

Everything takes a turn as Balu is the new inspector in charge and is trying to trace down a don from Valayar known as Valayar Paramasivam. But the truth is always going to be sour as Unni himself is Paramasivam, trying hard to hide his identity of crime from all those who loves him.

But his struggle becomes hard as his opponents in the smuggling field are upto destroying him at any cost. This makes the movie almost like a ''Triple Threat match'' - the fight is going to be triangular! How will Unni's love story end? Will he succeed in escaping from his own brother? Where will his life of crime end?

PERFORMANCE

Dileep is just outstanding in the movie. He has applied himself into the work sincerely. He has done quite a brilliant job in doing action, sentiments or comedy. He had been wonderful right from the beginning to the end.

He does deliver some ground breaking dialogues in the movie almost like what Mohan Lal did in his action movies like ''Narasimham'', ''Raavana Prabhu'' etc. Dileep shows that he got the ability to do all kinds of roles here in this movie.

Kavya Madhavan looks good, especially with the cute looks on the face. She does nothing special in the movie, but still she does her job well - even as it is not a big one. Suja Karthika has done exceptionally well as Dileep's sister.

Indrajit has been good in the movie. I do like him better than his brother Prithviraj because he doesn't overdo his role like his brother did in ''Vellinakshatram'' and ''Sathyam''.

Cochin Haneefa and Harishree Ashokan succeeds in bringing humour into the movie. There are lots of light funny moments in the movie, thanks to them. Murali is not bad, but he seemed like a shadow of his earlier performances, but he is better at some times.

Jagathy Sreekumar doesn't have very much big a role to talk about. Kaviyur Ponnama does well in the mother role as usual. Oduvil Unnikrishnan is typical in the father's role. Bhavana does have a guest role in a song. Gireesh Puthencherry's music is quite a nice one to hear.

CONCLUSION

There was no competition for the movie from the other movies released at the same time - ''Aparichitan'', ''Vellinakshatram'', ''Manju Poloru Penkutty'' etc as the movie did run for a long time even as lots of other movies crashed quickly just like ''Yuvajanolsavam'', ''Kaaka Karumban'' ''Freedom'' etc. All were just the results of some lame efforts to attract the viewers which makes Runway a great choice to go for.

The good thing is that the nice family movies like Runway can have nice collection as all other movies become crap. After watching the movie, I found that even if there were some slight flaws, the movie was a nice entertaining one even if the usual factors of a Malayalam movie still stay there as it has been.....
