Well this is my first review so please excuse my writing I booked cl500 maroon in the month of June 2010 was asked to wait for 1 year but got it in 6 months in Jan 2011. My problem started within 1st week low battery got it recharged from the service center things seemed fine from there on but after first service it got worst.
I had asked him to loosen the shock ups which result in rear tire touching or coming close to the mud guard which had rear electrical wire going through them and which touched them and started resulting in short circuiting and switching off of bike while running which got corrected in 3 service after some time fuse started getting short for apparent no reason gave to service center which too got sorted after a two days from service center.
My last trouble free ride on my bike was on my birthday with my wife the very next day my kicked slipped in the 9th month oh boy after that I came to know how good this "royal enfield co." is and how serious they our with there products and service centers.
I got that fixed in warranty but I don't know what they did my bike started giving average of around 15 kmpl and once I took it on highways suddenly some old rustling sound started coming from the engine(i remembered same sound coming from my house washing machine which is a front load when it got old which was coming from an old bearing).
Once again I went to the showroom as usual they got it fixed sound disappeared I don't know how but it did after some time when I got fed up with the bike since it was giving a pathetic average and not to mention oil leakage from the head near the clutch plate and mis firing and cream of the icing was when I accelerated my bike in neutral which resulted in some smoke coming out from the right spark plug and the air filter chamber was blasted opened resulting in a broken lock I visited a local mechanic since by then my free service was finished and I was not interested in going back to them.
the mechanic seemed quite surprised seeing all this happening in a barely a year old bike and he also pointed out that he has often heard complaints of that service center after fixing those problems in November I am again seeing the same things show up in january. I have done around 7500 km only on this bike previous to this I owned a pulsar 180 which was a blessing in disguise I used to for almost 5 half years and 45000 km
I don't know y I went for this scrap its just waste of time this machine doesn't need to be called a bike its just a pile of junk it doesn't need a reason to give problem it just arises irrespective of one`s riding conditions I don't know what policy this company follows may be con people and have good laugh when they get complaints they must be saying all people out there planning to buy this crap think again if u value your money time and efforts think again. coz I sincerely didnt find it worth the trouble it has to be one the most screwed up products in the Indian two wheeler market but people are buying it just for the looks.
