What would be more enthralling for a man than a bike that comes from a factory that specialized in guns and rifles once? Could there be anything more worthy of a show-off than a motorbike that reflects the bold and fearless strength of a fighter in its most raw form? Obviously, not! That's the reason why even after three centuries of existence, Royal Enfield continues to be symbolic of masculinity. “Made like a gun and goes like a bullet” is the motto that has driven this legendary company all through its journey that began by working for the battlefield and today, has reached the point of being the classic in biking brands. Based in Redditch in England, this company was christened as the Royal Enfield in 1890 before which it manufactured motorbikes, bicycles, stationary engines and lawn mowers under the name of Enfield Cycle Company. The first model closest to a motorcycle that existed the stables of Royal Enfield was a 2.75hp De Dion-Bouton driven vehicle in1898 that is today known as the Quad. After that, there was no stopping'The Thump'. After rolling out a series of bikes that were sturdy enough to be of use in the battle-grounds of Britain and Russia during the World War I, the Redditch maker ventured into the Indian territory in 1955. Setting up its headquarters in Chennai, Royal Enfield partnered with Madras Motors to bring the Indian arm called Enfield India into existence. Soon after that, in 1965, the entire production unit of Enfield shifted from England to India, or in other words, the British unit was shut down and the Indian arm was retitled as the Royal Enfield. Today, Royal Enfield is the only tourer motorcycle in the country and that makes it even more special for the ones who are true bikers at heart. Unlike others who are more about fun and flash, Royal Enfield bikes have been more of a traveler intent upon covering as much distance as possible – a pure tourer. Its bulky stance, muscular build and thumping resonance have been the irresistible traits about it. And those who are mesmerized by these automatically join the Royal cult. Riders of the Royal Enfield have always been considered as a member of a clan by the makers and that's why so many ways and means to connect and bring them together have been devised by the company including the Himalayan Odyssey, the Tour of the Rann of Kutch, the Rider Mania of Goa and many more. Presently, the scintillating range of Royal Enfield bikes in India includes the Thunderbird, Bullet 350, Bullet 500, Electra, Electra-X, Classic 500, Classic 350 and Classic Chrome. Here, at BikeDekho, you can get as much info as you like about all the Royal Enfield bikes, the new Royal Enfield bikes, the upcoming Royal Enfield bikes and even about the older and discontinued versions that might be up for sale from time to time.
