Rotterdam 2001: One of the two Cultural Capitols in Europe.

The year 2001 is going to be special for Rotterdam. The city may call itself Cultural City of Europe, together with Porto.

A large cultural program is presented, and in the city are rising large art projects.

The mega art projects are called: Going Dutch, and are easy to be seen for the public.

The Queen, in Andy Warhol style is one of twenty projects, in Going Dutch. A little picture enlarged, and reproduced can be found on the building of Stad Rotterdam insurances.

But.. there is more to be seen, of course.

One I am planning to visit is: Rotterdam Feest, a semi-permanent exposition in Het Schielandhuis en Dubbelde Palmboom in Rotterdam.

Rotterdam celebrates, it will show how people in Rotterdam are celebrating, from the Chinese New Year to Keti Koti. Rotterdam is a multi-cultural city, people from more than 70 countries are living here. (from January to September 2nd)

There is an International Statue collection, for a whole year to be seen on the Westersingel, also in Rotterdam. There are works of Rodin and Picasso, and other artists as well.

In het Wereldmuseum, (the World Museum), there is an exposition of pictures, from Rotterdam, made by people who live in Rotterdam. Photos from past and present can be seen there, and for kids there is: Hotel Het Reispaleis. Kids have the opportunity to interact with guests from all over the world.
