Before you read any further I would like to say few things
if you drink regularly and vodka isnt your preferred drink, I am sorry. My opinion is what I have put here.
If you are against alcohol consumption,do not hold it against me.
If you dont consume alcohol, read this review , add your valuable comments but dont ever get the idea that I am insisting that you try drinking.
I am not an alcoholic. I have either vodka or beer only on the first weekend of the month. ( after my pay check comes in)
Though I used to consume on a very low scale. I used to have it on a very discreet special occasions. in fact two special occasions. yeah .. weekdays and weekends... lol .. hey hey hey .. just kidding.
Vodka
Say the word Vodka and you get to hear in a chorus '' Russian'', Where in the origin traces to Poland in 16th Century, where they distilled grains and mash rotten potatoes and created this drink. 17th to 18 Century this drink becomes a standard in Russia. The only drink I ever liked before I feasted my taste buds on vodka was Beer. Never I liked any hard drinks, simply because I cannot stand the taste nor the hangover.
Vodka in Russian Means ''little water'' some Argue that its called ''water of life'' ( I was dating a Russian gal sometime back)Hey cmon enough of fundas , a drink is a drink is a drink, as long as its a drink.
My love affair with Vodka
There was this one time, A colleague of mine invited me to her birthday party. You say the word drink and she would say vodka without a moments hesitation. Her husband and her friends were sipping vodka and everyone roared into laughter when I said '' I'll just take a beer, thank you''.
Then, my dear colleague says, ''trust me Davie , you will love Vodka'' and the next thing I know here I am writing a review.
I have vodka, only on a particular weekend. Usually the first Weekend after the payday. Me and my buddies go dutch. My girlfriend also joins in. sometimes its just both of us, Flora and me.
Romanov
Romanov was a ruling dynasty which ruled the Majority of Russia till 1917 ,till the Russian Revolution. Honestly speaking , there is no difference in the taste between Romanov , Alexandrov and Smirnoff. At least I havent found any, although the latter two have more alcohol content.
But why Romanov? Here's why
I like the name.
Its less expensive than other vodka brands, so Why would'nt I go for a lesser price for the same blend.
Its available everywhere. I didnt get Smirnoff the last time I went to Pondicherry.
My girlfriend and me prefer this one over any other brand
The Drinks you can Mix with Vodka
If consumed in its raw form , it leaves a pungent taste in your taste buds, with your throat burning till your digestive system.
Here is what you can mix with this drink.
Lime Cordial
you get this in any supermarket. Lime Cordial is a lime concentrate mixed with some preservatives. Its very sour in taste , but your cheeks will get a muscle concussion ( I didnt have a better word to describe that feeling, NAN help me out here). two measures ( 90ml) of vodka and half a measure of Lime cordial on the rocks , and you have a drink and taste thats far beyond what you can describe. ( if you are sober enough to remember what taste that was.(lol)
Soft drinks
7 up / Sprite / Mountain Dew / Fanta / Mirinda / Limca
Two measures of any of the above drinks and one measure of vodka makes your drink perfect. The carbonated drinks not only add to the taste but makes your drink smooth.
you can also try using Lime cordial with the soft drinks
Coconut water
Ok here is how you go about this.
take the tender coconut and pour all the water in a mixer , pour 2 measures of vodka in the mixer, scalp the coconut inside white ( I dont know what they call it) and pour that into the mixer , add some more drinking water run the mixer for 2 minutes.
This would gives you a serving of four glasses.
Need I say more. try it yourself.
Rose Water
I dont know if you get this in other cities, but here in Chennai its called Panner. its carbonated rose water.
if this isnt available in your city , then try using Club soda and rose water combination.
Occasions
. A weekend on a month with friends or colleagues.
. A picnic by the beach with friends.
. A party
. Disco ( some of the disc's serve you complimentary drink)
Three rules to remember when you drink ( be it any alcohol beverage)
1. Be pleasant.
when you are in good mood cheerful or extremely happy. If you are depressed or sad forget it, dont even think of drinking to that moderate limit.
2. Drink to your limit.
If your limit says 2 rounds , stick to that. There are two situations I always detest. one, when a friend mocks you or challenges you saying he can consume more
sometimes they even force you into taking more. If you dont want to , then dont. situation number two, Betting. Who finishes the whole bottle first. Not my glass of wine buddy. put your foot down if you see your friends indulging in this, sit back and enjoy the show.
This also has one more advantage, usually a drunk guy breaks his sober point and talks funny. you have something funny to remember.
3. Eat well
After your last drink. ( provided that you followed rule no. 1 and 2 ) wait for half hour to 45 minutes. and then have your dinner or lunch. eat well, forget that you are on diet. ( in case you are you shouldnt have consumed alcohol )
So in conclusion my dear friends,
a Toast to your health and our friendship. Tomorrow is a holiday and my buddy has invited me to his place for a drink. And no points for guessing what it is.. ROMANOV.
