If your product is in need and the price is competitive, there is less salesmanship required. Wait a minute! The advertisement media succeeds in projecting even bad products as great with their impressive captions, music and taglines and the importance of salesman is back even for good products with cheap prices. Arrives foreign players and new technologies - to create a new level of competition which makes the role of a salesman even more interesting where customer is the king. In a bus…. metro….bike….taxi…these people will be around you always! If your telephone number is out into their hands, they will call you to harass you. If your email id is with them they are there to bombard your emails with requests, offers and even junks. They do not value other’s time or interest, but their targets and goals. They too are individuals have dreams and following dreams. How green is their life in every day basis?

Rocketsingh Salesman of the year tells the story of an eager and young graduate (Harpreet Singh Bedi, Ranbeer Kapoor) who tried to be a successful salesman. His lack of experience and honesty put him in a difficult situation. In a world where each individual is a number and each one want to add a number even if that means cutting another’s number he was about to fail…but…he was determined that he will not accept failure that easily. Watch Rocketsingh to know more.

Jaideep Sahni, who wrote Chak De India invested again on his faith in the subject, ‘success’. However, the writer is less effective this time. His introduction of characters was excellent and the team is set correctly. However, where he failed is creating situations compelling the characters to lead to decisions. The writer fails to create situations for some of his characters for the decisions and for others the decisions were postponed for later. What it would have been shot for 45 minutes extended till the first half and this extension nearly made the protagonist in a trap from which he cannot escape. When the writer finally tried to make the comeback in the second half it was too late and less convincing. The first half an hour of the movie was simply Rocking…but after that the movie prompted a good sleep in the first half. The second half too was opened well I thought the makers are going to make it but the climax was a disaster.

Performance by the cast was superb. Everybody, including Ranbir did their role in perfection.

Somehow I found the cinematography not so convincing. A shaking camera was not giving a happy feel, but was suggesting a headache. True there had some excellent shots then it sink to scenes which was not impressive otherwise.

Editing is ok.

Music department of the movie is comparatively better but there had only little scope for songs in the movie.

Overall, Rocketsingh fail to sell the product convincingly. For people in the field of sales it may be an ok watch. Otherwise this salesman fails to impress.

My rating: 2.5 stars.
