Umm. ahem. well!
So ok. ya. they tried!. Tried better than most. but no. I am sorry, I don't think rock on really rocks. In almost every sense of the word.
Its a good one time watch movie especially for the fairer sex.
Castingwas half brilliant half average. Farhan is good, Arjun Rampal is very good, others are good to ok.(The woman, Rampal's wife, is IRRITATING. but thats a personal opinion.) The Indian answere to Penelope Cruz is quite worth being an answer!
Plot lineis usual. Nothing dramatic. Its the screenplaythat quite a strong point. Positive/Up beat stuff is nicely interspersed between the sad/down beat parts.
Musicis Ok Ok. Except for one slow song, (Arjun Rampal's), rest are easy to pass. The manner in which the music is used in the climax is surely gripping. But that I guess is the aura of the overall performance rather than just the music.
Arjun Rampal stands out.(And I feel he is much more of a treat for the ladies than Farhan Akhtar. But then, to each his own.) Some of the straight faced one liners delivered by him are outstandingly witty. And he seems to be totally inside the skin of his caharacter.
The emotional angles are very believable and most of the things that look fake in a usual bollywood "musical", look very believable here, including the emotions for music. The twists in the movie are cliche though.
For a reference, I think Jhankar Beats was more entertaining.
