I ensure to mug up the list of excuses, before I step out of the house. From minor excuses like why I am late to office, to why I hate making friends, to why I am so reluctant to fall in love and what not. I have a justification for everything.

Though, till date, I frantically search for an excuse for giving up my passion for singing and music .And my voice sounds hollow to my own ears. I stay skeptical. I have probably opted for this kind off ACT and that’s why I live a suffocated, un-attempted life assuming that “ignorance is bliss”.

I just recollect the old lines from the poem in my syllabus “What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night.” Yeah the same “Leisure” that conveyed the message, before life overruns you, Stop! For realizing that, the one staring at the mirror is a stranger. Halt before you turn out to be a joker. A person busy pleasing others, but could not even muster a smile for himself. The smile which vanished with some erroneous choices I made in my life. Choices of superfluous things which had no deeper meanings.

“Aditya’s” (Farhan Akhtar) reasons for parting from his passion for singing was very different from mine. He was a lead singer in a band called “Magik” and others who formed the band were “Joe” (Arjun Rampal), “Rob” (Luke Kenny) and“KD” (Purab Kohli). They were starry- eyed and had all the plans to take over the world. Their ultimate chance is ruined by their battle of egos and they decide to go a split. A Ten year sabbatical and they are back to the same situate. Courtesy Sakshi(Prachi Desai), Aditya’s wife, who is tired of having a hollow person in form of her husband. Odds land her upon a meeting with Killer drama aka KD, and she determines to unravel the mystery. The movie parallels the tales of all other members of the band having an equally helluva life. Sakshi’s determination brings them together for a surprise rendezvous. But where to, from here? They suddenly feel at a loss with each other? The passion remains but the questions stays “Isn’t it a bit too late to make amends?”.The movie unfolds in to a brilliant second half, catching the audience in complete awe.

The magic(k) of Farhan Akhtar is contagious. It commences with the teen-boppers, catching onto the girls and spreading on to all and sundry. He delivers a parable performance, right from his debut. He brings on a style and attitude, exclusively his own, along with a baritone to be remembered for ages. The expectations were clearly the same.Prachi Desai looks as fresh as a daisy, She seems to be unaffected by Ekta and her likes. And dimples right away to my heart.

Arjun Rampal , is been as consistent as the tortoise, slow and yet steady. He has his own mode of making the best of his portion.Purab Kohli continues to be my favorite since long but its Luke Kenny who is the dark horse. Least did I expect from him to deliver such a performance.Shahana Goswami is yet another one who impresses me beyond with her performance. She etches out the role of a fisherwoman -cum -mom-cum- wife -cum-designer effortlessly.Koel Puri bats her eyelashes at the rate of 100 per second and fits the role. Nandini Shrikent who was also the casting director for earlier hit films like “Don” and “Lakshya” has roped in best of talents tailor made for the role.

Javed akhtar offers his best lyrics, composed into a great music by Shankar, Ehsaan, Loy.

I pepped on “Rock On” And “Pichchle saat dino main”. My heart did a triple beat on “Tum ho toh”. “Sinbad the Sailor” made me gasp with its novelty.”Yeh tumhari meri baatein” was the just the thing I needed. The best music I have heard since ages.

Jason West offers an exceptional cinematography and I drooled on the scenes which had the silhouette of Aditya’s house. Even the Rock-On song had some really good shots.

Abhishek Kapoor’s directed “Rock On”, makes him at least a successful director, with his second film after Aryan which did not see box office window for long. Though its seems like a brainwave of Farhan entirely. It has stamped all over it’s face “I belong to Farhan, I am his baby”.

Over all “ROCK ON” is one perfect movie after an age-old wait. Complete in its own, it serves the purpose of media. It carries a subtle yet strong message. It cashes on its music and  for once the fresh and good looking faces make it worth the trouble. On and on I may catwalk that aisle of the cinema hall again.

As I walked out of the theatre after watching much awaited “ROCK ON”I found myself wandering on the road salvaging past. “Past?” I felt like questioning myself, what exactly did my definition meant by “Past”? A part of life which had been left behind because it did not figure in my current surrounding or priority. I realized with a sigh that a passion which was construal to my existence took a sad demise, as some “Urgent” ones needed an attention for survival. The film did “Hit” me hard and within fraction of seconds it snatched away all the excuses. I wonder how long I was planning to fool “other” (ironically “myself”) with my “I loved this but …” sentences.

The lines I urged myself to bring into my conscience were.

When there is something so well worth in your life, “Don’t slack on it” and even if you do “never lose a chance of reinstating it in your life” !

Late?? Whats that ??
