The name RAJNIKANT is not an ordinary name because the position to which he has reached with his hard work & very strong fan following, he belongs to the league of Amitabh Bachchan at least in Tamil Nadu for sure. He is also among those few handful of South Indian actors who have managed to create curiosity in the Bollywood with few of their films.

ROBOT directed by the talented Shankar is one such film that has been in news ever since it was launched & coming after the huge success of brilliantly made SIVAJI (Rajni - Shankar combination again) the expectations from ROBOT were huge. Risk enormous due to the amount of money spent on the film - Rs. 170 crores.

When the big names combine they raise expectations sky high, which at times falls flat on its face. But the combination of Rajnikant & Shankar in ROBOT is a different case, it not only lives up to the expectations it also gives new dimensions to the Indian cinema that puts us at par with the international quality of technical fineness.

Robots are loved not only by children but are also famous among the adults. We all have read about them, which some would have loved & some would have just shrugged their shoulders by calling it just an invention of science. No harm in it after all it is just a machine.

Hold your breath, director Shankar takes us a step ahead of what we have imagined about the robots as his robot is just like a man who is programmed to follow instructions. Scientist Rajnikant invents a robot named Chitti, played by Rajnikant, with noble intentions. His guru Danny fails in his similar invention but only with his approval can Chitti do what Rajnikant wanted him to do. Danny rejects the invention & calls it dangerous machine with no feelings.

Can feelings be injected in a machine? If yes, what happens when a machine starts behaving like humans? Can machine love someone like humans? Can it be jealous of you? Can it be misused by someone else to create havoc for the sake of it's obsessions?.

Watch out Robot to know the answers because it cannot be explained in few linbes as one has to experience the outcome on the big screen. Yes, it is a big screen extravaganza, which cannot be enjoyed on TV. You can watch it on CD/DVD but will miss the impact for which the producer has spent the huge amount.

There are so many scenes that deserves standing ovation due to its execution & special effects. The scene when Danny tests Chtti & almost had Rajnikant stabbed by his own invention Chitti, when Chitti saves people from a building on fire, when Chitti saves Aishwarya from gundas in local train, above all the superb superb climax, this shows the amount of every penny spent was wisely utilized by the director.

The only drawback in the film that I found was the music but it has to be taken into account that the film is actually made in Tamil & dubbed in Hindi, so the tunes are in line with the liking of Tamil audience. Its always a difficult task to write words that will suit the already prepared tunes. Hence the songs that may not be pleasing to ears but are pleasing to eyes because they were beautifully shot with some mesmerizing photography.

Dialogues are cleverly written with no melodrama in it. They succeed in showing the jealousy of the competitor & frustration of the inventor.

Action scenes are the highlight of the film. But it's not typical Ranjikant style of action, this time it is stylised with some breath taking special effects & aptly performed by Rajnikant. Watch out the fights in train and in the climax.

Production values are of superior quality as the producer has not compromised with the cost & preferred to give us a product of international standards & has succeeded in doing so.

Danny once again delivers a balanced performance.

Aishwarya Rai looks stunning but when shot in close ups, the age has begun to appear on her face.

Director Shankar must be rewarded for his efforts. He has successfully shown his imagination in action on screen. Right from the first scene he meant busi

Who says Rajni-CAN'T, because if anyone could it was only Rajni as the film belongs to him. He played the role of scientist & Robot to perfection. This is new Rajnikant with nothing of typical Rajnikant that we have being watching, so some of his fans who watch his films for his typical style might get disappointed.

For the sake of the combination of Shankar & Rajnikant this film is strongly recommended. Please watch it.
