Socho market mein kya value hogi meri?" says an encounter specialist who has just lost his job. Randeep plays a cop who just loves killing criminals.
He has been shown to gun down around 5 goons a day but his mathematics is bad (err, everyone's is). So, after seven years he counts it as 35. The villian says 40. Somebody else in the movie says it is 60. We have seen all this before! Ap tak Chhappan (56 till now) was a better movie. At least, the encounter specialist had killed 56 gundas already.This movie has moments. This movies has some good one liners. This movie has lots to send adrenaline skyrocketting but the only issue here is that we have seen it all before.
An honest cop who specializes in encounters, an unnamed relationship with a lady, an ailing mother, an idiotic desire to destroy one big underworld don who operates from another country (while leaving those near your house go scotfree), a weak plot, rank bad item song(giggle thankfully only one in the entire movie), good acting by Vinod Khanna and decent performances by everyone except Tanushree Datta, technically not-bad attempt at direction, excellent camera, out-of -this-world art-direction could not save a moviethat turns out to be a big risk for everyone from the producer to the viewer. "Ghee ke laddoo hain. Khaa le, ab to ghee khane ki aadat daal hi le. He he he he" says a senior officer to his junior.
Don't ask me the context but just try to say this line on your own (and don't forget the uncontrollable laugh). "Mar to main usi din gaya tha jab teri di huyi wardi pehni thi. Mujhe maut ka koyee dar nahin". Being courageous is good. Being focussed to your job even better. Being idiotic is not something uncommon in this beautiful place called earth where we dwell. What is new is that a guy like this cop makes an a** of himself in others' as well as his own eyes.
This movie relies on presenting a collage of thrilling scenes and dialogues. "Ek din latak jaooge" "Mere ko isko maarna hai. Bas marne ka hai" "Kaun Khalid?" "Tu theek bola. Tu khalid ko nahin janta. Jis din jaan jayega bahut pachhtayega". There is no real plot. The first half would get most people restless as the interval keeps eluding the story that just keeps going on and on.
Thankfully, the pace is not bad. It may slacken towards the end of first half but overall, it is a fast paced movie. "Koyee tere ko touch nahin karega. Main dekhna chahta hoon ki ek aadmi Khalid ko kitna nuksaan pahuncha sakta hai" (I want to see how much a lone guy can hurt my business)The dual between the cop and the don is nice. The egoes clash and make lots of noisy one liners in the process. Only, this movie has nothing new to offer in terms of cinematic experience. "Mujhe tum par poora wishwas hai" says one character to another who double crosses him. The tension builds. The next sequence in excellently shot with Makrand, Yadav and Zakir lending credibility to the scene that you must have seen a zillion times before (where hatred takes over a man so much that he wants to kill a corpse too). "Mujhe isko marne ka hai" Bam Bam three dead! This movie borders between being average and to being good. If you analyse properly, this movie is a tale of two egoistic men (Khalid and Suryakanth).
Lots of guys get killed till they meet. When they meet, they don't get much to talk to each other and this is a big flaw with this movie that relied on creating moments. It would have been a lot interesting to see how Suryakanth faces Khalid. He doesn't face him till the last sequence. Acting Performances:Vinod Khanna tops the list. Absolutely fantastic performance. His expressions, mannerism, dialogue delivery and screen presence is fabulous. Easily the best performance of the movie.Randeep is good in parts. His mannerism and body language is not consistent all the time.
His accent and intonation is inconsistent too. He couldn't handle some scenes where he had to display emotional outburst. He looks like a good prospect to me. Zakir Husaain and Seema Biswas, and rest of the cast have done good job. Tanushree Datta needs to learn just the following things about acting and she will be a good performer -- bringing emotions on face and in eyes, not being stiff while saying her lines, dialogue delivery, voice modulation, gesture and body language, how to lip sync, and above all how to shout and threaten a character. There are other things too but let Tanushree take one baby step at a time. Direction:It is not bad! The narration has its unique flavor and is enjoyable in parts. The characters look straight out of Ram Gopal Verma's films. Inspirations?! Coming back to Vishram Sawant's directorial effort, he could have done much better. He could have done away with the first and the only song of the moivie. Music:The background score is nice thanks to Amar Mohile. I guess DJ Akbar Sami takes the miscredit of the lone song in the film. Camera:Awesome. No comments.
